We hope you’ve all had a wonderful summer holidays.

It’s not over yet, but here is a bit of carnival throwback - (I’m not sure actually - where did that time go?! One minute I was planning loads of posts and the next it was long ago!) Was a great carnival this year in Padstow and lovely to see the floats are slowly coming back too!

Big round of applause to the Nadelik Lowen team for all their hard work.

So, what’s everyone up to today?

The last day of the Cornwall Tattoo Convention and it looks like great fun - but I can’t go without having a new tattoo, and I can’t have one at the moment so missing the fun 🥲. If you went tag us in your new tattoo pics - we’d love to see your art work 🥰

A big welcome to Cara who has joined us in the Dydh Da adventure.

Cara (amongst other things) has written this beautiful illustrated story book about a woman and her dealings with the ‘other’ locals here in Padstow - the Gullies!

A fabulous story book children will want to read again and again, and the adult bedtime readers too!

Her book is available here in store - (or we can post you a copy if you can’t get in to buy one).

Did you know the Kernewek word for a seagulls is
… golanes.

Sometimes you just need a change of scenery so we went ‘down west’ for supper and a dog walk.

Fabulous evening just watching the world go by at Marazion.

The wonderful St Michael’s Mount is here for you to explore. (You will need to book your arrival time/ticket in advance I think). If the tide is out you can walk over to the island, and if it isn’t you can take a boat ride there. If you climb the mount don’t forget to look for the heart stone!

Ps, if you want fabulous fish and chips (Glutenfree too) then it’s well worth popping in to Penzance to get them from our favourite chippy - ’s Fish & Chips

Ps, dog friendly beach after 6pm

Last week we ventured down to Cape Cornwall in that marvellous sunshine.

The fields are almost all golden brown now, I’m sure they were like that every summer as a child? Who else remembers long hot summers with scorched grass?

Mind you, we were sad to see a little rabbit out looking for water 😞. We did try to give him a little puddle to drink from from our water bottles but he was too scared of us to see (don’t forget to keep leaving out a little bowl of water for the critters!) - I can’t imagine how thirsty some of them have been.

Anyway, this is the view from Cape Cornwall! Beautiful place! And if you know the song - this is the view if you stand on Cape Cornwall, although we didn’t stay for the sunset!

Road is hellish to get down though! Talk about narrow with few passing places!
But a nice big National Trust car park at the end with the friendliest lady on hut duty. And a little cafe for a coffee and an ice cream.

Lots of our makers have restocked this week - with some lovely new makes for you too!

Get Choughed gifted me this lovely mug - which sums our ‘made locally’ ethos up perfectly 🥰

Lots more in store. And as always - if you see something you like but can’t make it to the store drop us a message and we can post most items.

It definitely is the little things that make a difference to people’s life and this mug definitely cheered me up after a hectic day!

Nos da! Xx
