North West Film Archive Presents: Waiting Patiently – Discovering Disability History on Film

Join us for a specially curated selection of films that celebrate the hidden stories, diverse experiences and everyday histories of disabled and neurodivergent people in the North West.

Drawn from the North West Film Archive collection, the films focus on everyday life across the 20th and 21st centuries, including people in the workforce, learning new skills, enjoying leisure time, playing instruments and cards, and eating together.

Frogs are pretty amazing! 🐸 They’re amphibians, which means they are cold-blooded, have moist skin and lay their eggs (spawn) in water 💧💧. When the eggs hatch, tadpoles emerge which breathe using gills (like a fish🐟). As they grow, they develop lungs so they can also live on land. 🌼🌻 Talk about a double life!

Join us for a panel event about the transformation of Oldham’s historic cotton mills into modern environmentally efficient workspaces.

At its peak as a cotton manufacturing town, Oldham had more than 360 cotton mills. This event takes place in one of those mills, Manor Mill in Chadderton, which was built 120 years ago. The mill is now home to Ultimate Products, and its refurbishment contributes to Oldham’s green ambitions.
