The Titanic Exhibition is now open at Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre, and it’s here until 21 November.
Come face to face with original objects connected to the ship and the people on board, including an original deckchair, what is believed to be the largest surviving fragment of the aft Grand Staircase, a cream jug from the Café Parisien, a lifeboat plaque and fragments from a Second Class cabin.
There’s a local story here too. Jack Phillips, the Titanic’s senior wireless operator, was born in nearby Godalming and trained at the town’s Post Office. He stayed at his post sending distress messages until almost the very end, and did not survive.
The exhibition runs for just four weeks, so if you’d like to see these objects while they’re in Hampshire, now’s the time to plan your visit.
