It was great to hear Pardner Hand mentioned in Episode 3 of Lenny Henry's Three Little Birds - with a group of factory workers mentioning it as a way of saving to buy a home, and bring relatives over from the Caribbean.
Our free exhibition with The Bank Of England Museum 'Pardner Hand: A Caribbean answer to British banking exclusion' is open until June 2024 for anyone interested in finding out more:
Our book explores some of the objeks and tings that many Caribbeans hold dear, especially those of the Windrush Generation. Expect to laugh and learn and remember, buying a copy will help to support our work as a museum:
We're doing some work with Norwich City FC's under-12s academy team and they kindly invited us and the family to Norwich's game against Leeds at Carrow Road on Saturday. Thanks to Matt and Joe for hosting us!

Walking is good for the mind, body & soul. Why not celebrate by getting out and about and exploring black history where you live?
Black History Walks is a great place to start in London:
It's day 3 of and time for a book. Well, books. The Anansi stories about a 'tricky' spider-man were written as a way to share moral tales, teaching children to do and be better.
One of my favourites is Anansi and the Pot of Beans. What's yours?

We are Museumand, The National Caribbean Heritage Museum. We are a museum & more. We’re a unique, vibrant, creative organisation, a museum “without walls”, dedicated to commemorating and celebrating the Caribbean contribution to life in the UK.
For many centuries, Caribbeans have helped to shape and influence our shared British culture, heritage and achievements, but their stories are often left untold. We aim to bring those stories to life for everyone, by exploring, preserving and sharing Caribbean history, heritage and culture, both past and contemporary.
Fascinating social histories. Moving personal accounts. Intriguing objects. Wonderful music, art, performance and crafts. You’ll find it all and more in our eclectic and often unexpected exhibitions and events.
Above all, we’re a museum without walls, in every sense. As a social and community history museum we travel to and connect with communities around the UK, especially those who may not normally visit traditional heritage organisations. Our exhibitions and events celebrate the lives and experiences of ordinary people, in a way that everyone can recognise and embrace.
History and heritage isn’t only found in the pages of a book or in a museum, it’s about our lives, the things we do every day, the objects we use and treasure, the traditions and values we hold dear, the rituals and customs little is known about and the stories we tell. We explore and celebrate all those things and reveal why they’re important, in order to shine a light on our shared social history and culture.
