Just two weeks to go till the opening of WEIGHT AND SEE at the Undercroft Gallery, Norwich. This LAC exhibition invites the viewer to reflect on the notion of Weight, perhaps through the long history of the nearby market or maybe through the weight of current times. Perhaps too it’s about Wait; a pause before something begins an invitation to wait awhile and see. The exhibition opens on October 6th, we hope you'll come and join us.

"I am a very keen self-taught amateur, hugely grateful of the time retirement brings to concentrate on artwork. I like to tackle landscape, and still life in watercolour and life drawing."

The Art of Norwich is returning with another eclectic selection of independent artists showing their latest creations. Sadly, due to upcoming renovations at St Margarets, this will be our only exhibition of the year, at least at this venue.

For nearly fifteen years, the Art of Norwich has featured the works of many hundreds of individual artists, to be enjoyed by the many visitors of their 60+ exhibitions. Each exhibition has been similarly unique, featuring the work of fresh talent alongside established professionals and every shade in between.

The Art of Norwich is entirely independent and self-sustaining, an artist directed and funded endeavour without any reliance upon outside sponsorship or influence.
Having grown organically from humble beginnings, and run on firm egalitarian principles, their exhibitions seek to nurture the grass-roots of the artist community.

Each exhibition is open to all artists regardless of style, qualification or prior experience. Artists select their space and have the creative freedom to display whatever work and in whatever style and medium they so desire with no restrictions upon their creative expression.

Visitors can be assured to find a diverse kaleidoscope of creative talents, with a myriad of styles on display, and something to suit all artistic predilections. Most of the work will be available for sale, with plenty of unique gift ideas that you won't find elsewhere, and buyers can be satisfied with the knowledge that the full proceeds go straight to reward the artist, helping toward producing new work for your enjoyment.

St Margarets Church of Art is itself a unique venue providing the ultimate blank canvas for exhibiting artwork. Over its years as a gallery, the walls have perpetually brimmed with new artwork that refreshes every week or two, with each exhibition bringing their unique personality to the space.

Art of Norwich 67 will run from 7th - 19th March...open daily between 10am - 5pm. Entry is completely free and all are welcome to browse and be inspired.
We look forward to seeing you there !

So very sad to learn of the recent peaceful passing of a much beloved artist, and dear friend to many, the wonderful Ray Loveday. His bright warm presence was a ray of sunshine wherever he went, and it was a genuine privilege to have known him.

He was an inspiration and will be very deeply missed, though he will live on in the hearts of all that were fortunate enough to have shared time with him.

RIP Ray x
