Steam Enthusiasts Day!

Learn how to fire and operate our 130 year old steam launch Falcon.
You can enjoy the experience of being instructed on the operation of the boiler and engine whilst your guest is being transported around the beautiful broads under full supervision of our experienced Boat men
We will only have two training people on board giving time for both engine and helming instruction and the comfort of all of the boat
The day begins at 10.00am with a stop at around 1.30 for a light lunch then continue until our return to the museum at 4.00 where you will receive your commemorative certificate of completion.
Dates available: 6th June, 4th July, 1st August and 5th September.

🚤 Model Boat Day at the Museum of the Broads ⛵

Join us for a fantastic day celebrating boating on the Broads, with displays from local model boat clubs including Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and Ebridge, alongside individual enthusiasts.

See beautifully crafted model boats on static display and enjoy demonstrations on the water throughout the day. Meet model boat owners and discover the history of boating on the Broads in our new display and cinema.

This is Paul Bellison, one of the Museum's trustees.
Paul joined in June 2025. He is a qualified engineer and works as boat skipper and boat operations team lead. He loves running our boat trips on Marsh Harrier and Falcon along with the other volunteer boat helms and crew.
His dedication to the Museum, along with that of the other trustees and volunteers ensures we can open for our lovely visitors and provide enjoyable, informative experiences that promote the fantastic heritage of the Norfolk Broads.

Calling all barbers!

In their transformation from Elizabethan Conspirators to a 1920s sailmaker and a 1950s boat architect, our mannequins are currently sporting some rather dodgy amateur haircuts!

Are there any professional barbers who would be willing to give these two deserving gentleman a short back and sides?!

To reward your efforts we would like to offer yourself and a guest free museum entry and a free boat trip.

How long have you been at the Museum - Since Sept 2025 when I re-located to Stalham (from Brecon Wales)

Why do I volunteer at the Museum - I have always been a keen boater, all kinds of boats: canoes to Wherries but mainly sailing boats. I have spent many holidays on the Broads. I love volunteering at the museum to extend my knowledge of the Broads and to be able to pass on my passion and discuss with a wide range of visitors. I also enjoy being at the museum and the camaraderie with the other volunteers.

Our wonderful electric boat runs several times a day when we are open. It can accommodate dogs and children and is also accessible for wheelchair users via our wheelchair lift. Pop along to our very first Local Makers Market at the Museum of the Broads and explore a fantastic range of local creativity and craftsmanship.
