On Wednesday 10th June we're thrilled to be hosting an exclusive performance from The Queen of Folk Rock, Maddy Prior.

Maddy will bring an evening of song drawing on a lifetime in British folk music.
Joined by Andrew (Spud) Sinclair (Steeleye Span), she presents newly written work that will blend depth and atmosphere, alongside a selection of traditional and familiar favourites.

Just over a week since The Late Shows ! We had so much fun welcoming people into our Gallery for a special opening of STREETS ALIVE, our new exhibition...

Visitors created their own tiles for collaborative murals, one filled with portraits, one responding to the urban landscape of Newcastle. The result were colourful! 🌈

Soon these will be added to the Urban Galleries, further transforming these historic streets into a home for public and community art 🖼

📆 STREETS ALIVE will stay up in our Gallery until TUES 2nd JUNE. Come down to the Arts Centre to see this celebration The Forth & Pink Lane Urban Galleries. It showcases the evolution of the project, its vision for the future, and the artists involved.

CYANOTYPE: ALTERNATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY with Nick Christie

Cyanotype, also known as ‘Sun Printing’ is a 19th century camera-less photographic printing process that produces cyan-blue (Prussian blue) prints using UV light, typically sunlight. In this workshop, participants will be shown how to prepare the photographic solution and coat their paper. Using a combination of photo negatives, drawing, mark making and writing, you will be able to create unique imagery and your own ‘blue print’.

To celebrate the opening of the Streets Alive exhibition, join us at The Late Shows or a unique opportunity to get creatively involved in The Forth & Pink Lane Urban Galleries.

Guided by artists involved in the project, visitors will be able to contribute to new artworks for the Lanes; two panels, one a collection of Community Portraits, the other a compilation of creative responses to the Urban Landscape.

The addition of these artworks to The Urban Galleries will further establish these historic streets as a home for public and community art.

Head down to the Black Swan for refreshments and live music from Scott Wall and Friends for a one-off show. A blend of Bluesy, rootsy energy with back-porch storytelling, Cigar box guitar riffs, wailing harmonica and audience participation.
