Brampton Museum We are an award winning, family friendly, museum & art gallery in Brampton Park, Newcastle, Staffs
(323)

In beautiful Brampton Park less than half a mile from the town centre lies Newcastle-Under-Lyme’s local history museum featuring over 2000 years of Borough history. Set in verdant parkland the Museum and Art Gallery has something for everyone. Alongside our temporary exhibitions programme in The Jim Wain Courtyard Gallery, we have galleries depicting the rich and diverse history of the area using

our amazing collections. After a nearly 2 year redevelopment project we are now fully open. New galleries include The Borough in 80 objects, telling new stories about our history with an eclectic mix of curious objects and Mrs Mosley’s Parlour - complete with a talking portrait. Another highlight is Brampton Street which allows you to take a step back in time as you discover the wares of Mellard’s the ironmongers, the treasures of the pawnbroker’s shop, the fascinating cures of the chemist’s and the gruesome collection of doctor’s surgical instruments. The toys gallery is a firm favourite with young and old alike with teddies, dolls and games up to 150 years old. We are a family friendly museum and there is always something interesting for visitors of all ages to see and do. We are home to The Little Vintage Tea Room for cakes, drinks and light lunches with indoor and outdoor seating.

Are you, or do you know or care for someone who is, living with early-stage dementia? Our monthly reminiscence sessions could be just what you are looking for. The next session is on Thursday, September 10 at 10.30 and it's all about the 1970s.

Lead by reminiscence expert Kath Reynolds, these multi-sensory experiences will evoke memories and give participants a chance to bond while recalling common experiences...with lots of fun and laughter along the way! It's a very socilable group and you get a free cup of tea or coffee and biscuits.

Can you help us bring local TREASURE home?

This beautiful 3rd-century Roman gold ring was found in Chapel and Hill Chorlton in 2024 and has been declared Treasure.
We have just 3 months to raise £700 so it can join the museum’s collection and stay here for everyone to enjoy.
Every donation, big or small, will help us protect this incredible piece of Staffordshire’s Roman past.

Donate via the link in the comments, or pop in and give at our visitor desk.
Thank you for helping us save local history!

Huge thanks to our funders The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Museum Development Midlands and all the museum staff and volunteers who've made this possible.

These glow in the dark bouncy eyeballs are too good to save until Halloween! They're making their way into our prize box for museum trails.
We also wanted to see what 200 of them bouncing down the stairs looked like.
