Jenna Burlingham Gallery specialises in 20th-Century paintings, sculpture, prints and ceramics as well as featuring work by select contemporary artists. Our aim is to make the art world more accessible by providing friendly advice and expert guidance. The gallery offers a bespoke consultancy service to individuals, businesses, institutional clients and decorators looking to buy and sell fine art.

We can introduce clients to artists and movements and advise in detail on current critical and commercial trends. We provide complete independence and impartiality. The work exhibited in the gallery includes many established Modern British names with proven market records as well as carefully selected emerging artists working in the Modern British tradition and whom we believe to have future potential. The gallery inventory, for the large part listed on this website, is ever-changing and offers a wide variety of art from £500 to the many thousands, and a selection of works under £500. In addition to our stock, we run an exhibition programme that includes solo, collaborative and group shows. If you are unable to make it to the gallery to see a work first-hand, please let us know. Viewing in London, or elsewhere, can always be arranged by appointment. Through our many contacts in the art world, we can help you search for a unique painting, decorate a whole property or build a specialist collection. We can often find a painting or sculpture before it comes on the open market and then advise on its pricing, condition, authenticity or past history. Our commitment is to negotiate the best price when buying privately from individuals or through our many trade contacts. At auction, whether a regular buyer or a client unfamiliar with the auction process, we can also offer guidance or bid on your behalf. We can help with the sale of all art, whatever the value, either through the gallery or our extensive private, commercial and auction network. We can value your art and provide full appraisals for insurance, probate, or family division purposes. The display and hanging of paintings in the home and office is an art in itself. We have extensive experience in the presentation and display of all works of art. We have a strong experience in working with interior decorators, alongside their private or corporate clients, to integrate works of art into interior and architectural schemes. The process can begin with a brief or a site visit, after which we will follow up with a presentation of suggested works. On occasion, a shortlist of works may be tried in situ before final selections are made. Our specialism in both Modern British and contemporary art allows us to source works that can suit a wide range of styles and budgets. We can also offer advice on the framing and installation of the artworks.

This evocative depiction of the village of Youlgreave in the Peak District was painted by the artist Lucien Pissarro in 1928 during a visit with the fellow artist James Bolivar Manson. Pissarro painted outdoors and there are three known images from his stay - his Impressionistic handling captures the charm of the village cottages surrounded by a labyrinth of stone walls and stepped paths. The son of Camille Pissarro, Lucien settled in London in 1890 and became a crucial link between French Impressionism and later British art. He was known for his use of fresh, clean colours and his distinctive landscapes of the English and French countryside.

A view from our ‘Studio’ gallery - a separate building, across the courtyard from the main gallery 'Rope House'. As always, the studio is filled with new arrivals from several of the contemporary artists that we work with. We have some wonderful paintings by David Pearce (this is his 'Banksia’), Richard Ballinger, Chloe Lamb, Peter Joyce, Nicholas Turner and Pamela Burns, with lots of paintings having arrived in the last couple of weeks.

August is the perfect time to visit the gallery. We are open six days a week as usual and although we’ve no specific exhibition hang, we’ve all sorts of paintings, prints, ceramics and sculpture on view, many of which we’ll be taking to the British Art Fair and Decorative Fair at the end of September.

Do check out the website for details on how to get here (an easy trip out of London), what to do in the area , our full inventory and details for forthcoming events. You can also subscribe to our monthly newsletter.
