Montrose Air Station Museum

Montrose Air Station Museum Home of the first operational military air station in Great Britain. A Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation
(SCIO) SC040375

Montrose Air Station Museum is run entirely by volunteers who keep its amazing history alive. Britain’s first operational military airfield was set up in Montrose by the Royal Flying Corps in 1913. The heritage centre's collection of photographs and artefacts tell the story of RFC/RAF Montrose through the words and deeds of the men and women who served here through two world wars, bringing the air

field alive and sparking the enthusiasm and admiration of generations for whom the First and Second Wars exists only in others’ memories.

Another Fly-In Announcement!

Join us in the museum library for two fascinating short talks:

Vic the Montrose War Horse
Discover the remarkable story of Vic, who survived the horrors of the First World War thanks to the devotion of Captain Wallace of Arbroath.

The B.E.2 Aircraft – First at Montrose
Explore the history of the pioneering B.E.2 aircraft and its connection to Montrose. We have a full sized replica of the B.E.2 for you to see in our Lt John Ross Robertson Building.

These talks will take place each day during our Fly-In Weekend, times to be confirmed.

Also for your entertainment our Station Songbird Laura Boyd will be singing throughout each day.
Also on site will be a variety of stalls, including a face painter and food and drink vans.
There will also be lots going on over on the airfield site.
More info to follow.

Not long to go until our Fly-In Weekend!

There'll be plenty happening across both the museum and at the airfield site throughout the weekend.

Enjoy live music from the fantastic Laura Boyd, along with short talks from our volunteers about Vic the Montrose War Horse and the B.E.2 aircraft.

There'll also be a great selection of stalls, as well as plenty of aircraft arriving and departing from the airfield site – making it a fantastic day out for the whole family.
We look forward to seeing you there!
