Step into the future with us ✨

Saturday 27 June, 10:00–15:00

We’re hosting Stories for the Future — a relaxed, creative day where we imagine what Middlesbrough could look like 200 years from now. Think future worlds, new ideas, hopeful possibilities and plenty of imagination.

You’ll get to explore big questions about climate, technology, community and everyday life, then create your own mini films, photos or audio pieces that bring your future Middlesbrough to life. Together, we’ll build a collaborative podcast featuring everyone’s voices.

No experience needed — just curiosity and an open mind.
Ages 18+
Spaces are limited, so book by 14 June: [email protected]

Delivered with the Teesside University Journalism Team as part of Story Labs, celebrating Middlesbrough’s stories, memories and future as the town approaches its 200th anniversary.

Update: Jamie won! Well done Jamie, we couldn’t be prouder.

We are so pleased that our volunteer Jamie Sample has been shortlisted for Teesside University’s Rising Star Alumni Volunteer Award – well deserved! Jamie captures the spirit of MIMA and has been a long-term volunteer supporting our Learning Programme for over a decade. He brings communities together, has serious ambition and lights up a room with his storytelling. Reliable and dedicated, Jamie is a staple at The Club, MIMA’s weekly group for elders. He is an integral part of welcoming The Club each week, ensuing the first face they see at MIMA is a welcoming and friendly one. Well done, Jamie!
