“Unassuming yet also magnetic. The Helford flows East to West, silvery beneath the lush green grass and verdant trees. The creek winds invitingly South around the bend, a place to explore, to stop, to dream.”

‘Solstice’ by Sophie Velzian

“Looking towards Luskentyre. The light shifting fast, iron skies give way to sunshine. Tidal streams etched into the cream caramel sands, curves of ice blue. Sinuous threads that glitter in the sun, drawing your eye.”

This beautiful showstopper of a painting is hanging on our feature wall as part of Sophie Velzian’s latest solo show ‘Places I Remember’

New work from Alex Yarlett

With the vivid pink and purple skies we’ve been treated to in Cornwall recently, Alex Yarlett’s latest collection couldn’t have arrived at a more fitting time.

Alex’s semi-abstracted landscape paintings are full of movement and atmosphere, with wide, expressive brushstrokes and a playful palette of inky blues, rosy neutrals, vivid turquoise and coral pinks.

Capturing the shifting light across the landscape, there’s something wonderfully dreamlike about these original paintings, familiar places transformed through colour, texture and Alex’s distinctive way of seeing.

For anyone looking to bring colour into an interior, Alex’s work makes a beautiful focal point. The combination of dark blues with unexpected pinks, corals and turquoise gives these contemporary landscapes a wonderful presence within both colourful and more neutral spaces.

The full collection is now available to view at The Summerhouse Gallery in Marazion, Cornwall, and to buy online ✨

Payment plans, finance and worldwide shipping options are available.

Places I Remember, a solo show by Sophie Velzian

We are delighted to share a teaser of what’s to come, with the opening of this beautiful show just around the corner.

In this collection, Sophie explores places of personal significance, drawing on both plein air studies and memories of walks, landscapes and experiences. Working across a range of media, from oils and acrylics to pastels, she captures not only the character of each place, but the atmosphere and emotions they evoke.

Alongside more recognisable landscapes, Sophie’s love of colour and paint has also led her towards more abstract explorations of place, where light, weather and atmosphere become the focus. Together, the works capture the way a place can stay with us long after we have left it.

Sign up to the gallery mailing list for early access to the online collection. Finance, payment plans and worldwide shipping is available for all works in the show.
