This irresistible gem has just landed. An original painting and collage by the well known British abstract artist Anthony Frost. Frost was born in St. Ives, Cornwall, (1951), the son of Sir Terry Frost. He studied art at the Cardiff College of Art and has gone on to have his work featured in the “Art Now Cornwall” exhibition at Tate St Ives in 2007. He is also in major collections.
This painting has just headed off to our framers. It will be floated, surrounded by a thick white mount and a white frame and I cannot wait to see it all finished.
It really is a little gem- image size around 10cm width, however we will be providing the exact dimensions soon.

Just landed, this tiny little original gouache and collage painting by none other than the famous British abstract artist Sir Terry Frost. It is signed on the back and untiled as it is a handmade card for someone he knew.
Frost was one of the forerunners of abstract painting in Britain, and his use of vivid colours can be traced back to his time as a prisoner, almost in antithesis of the drab, dull world in which he found himself. He believed the experience left him with a ‘heightened perception’ of the world which encouraged him to paint. Painting and printmaking were always at the centre of his work and Frost considered them inseparable, with one medium creating ideas for the other.

A retrospective exhibition 2000 titled ‘Terry Frost: Six Decades’, was held at the Royal Academy of Arts, London.

Terry Frost was elected Royal Academician 1992 and received a knighthood in 1998. He lived and worked in Newlyn, Cornwall.

That feeling you get when you see the sea and finally get to the beach on a hot day. On way back after a smashing day at Southwold… it never disappoints

When Charles Bartlett was asked about the inspiration behind his work, he simply explains: “I love the light in East Anglia, the flat landscape and the estuaries which provide big skies and ever‑changing colours.” This fascination with the shifting moods of sea and sky permeates his paintings, giving them their distinctive freshness, boldness, and emotional resonance.

A keen sailor, Bartlett has a profound respect for the sea and an intimate understanding of its many forms. Drawn to river estuaries, reed‑beds, and the unique light of the Essex and Suffolk coastlines, he captures not just the appearance of these places but their poetry, atmosphere, and sense of space. His work reflects the dynamic interplay of land, water, and weather — elements that harmonise or collide in endlessly changing combinations.

Influenced by artists such as Paul Nash, Graham Sutherland, Walter Sickert, and Edgar Degas, Bartlett brings together a rich artistic heritage with his own distinctive vision. His paintings celebrate the drama and serenity of the natural world, offering viewers a powerful sense of place and a deep appreciation of the East. Waterways, etching, image size 36 x 44

Turn away now if you do not love these creatures as we are having a cat fest. I thought it would be a bit of fun to see all these cat images by a selection of our artists all together. You can enjoy seeing how each has portrayed these beauties in various styles and mediums. Many of you will recognise these artists instantly as a number were part of the Great Bardfield group, including works by Richard Bawden and Sheila Robinson. There are also pictures by Arabella Shand and Dame Elizabeth Blackadder

This iconic artwork is by the important British Pop Artist Richard Hamilton. His art is edgy and fun, but not for everyone . I love the harshness and the sense of it being a time capsule.
His visual juxtapositions from the 1950s were the first to capture the frenetic energy of television, and remind us of how strange the vacuum, tape recorder, and radio must have seemed for the first generations that experienced them. “Pop Art” the British artist declared, would be: “Popular, transient, expendable, low-cost, mass-produced, young, witty, sexy, gimmicky, glamorous, and Big Business.
This artwork is titled ‘Just what it that makes today’s homes so different’ 1992

I couldn’t resist showing you this artwork titled Aldeburgh Boat which by Mary Fedden. I should probably wait until it is framed to show you as it will look fantastic.
Mary Fedden is still one of the most desirable artists we exhibit to date as every picture she creates oozes charm, imagination and gorgeous colours. Her unique style has influenced and inspired numerous artists. Fedden was married to the artist Julian Trevelyan. Mary was the first woman to tutor at Royal college of Art in the painting school 1958 to 1964. Her pupils included David Hockney and Allen Jones. She went on to receive an OBE and become a Royal Academician
