Explore the house, view an exhibition or sign up the kids for our Creative Make & Take workshops every Wednesday and Friday. You can take home your own creation, all materials are included and we'll even clear up the mess!

Melissa Simon-Hartman shares the inspiration behind her spectacular piece 'The Weight She Carries', now on display as part of Celebrating Luton Carnival at Wardown House, Museum & Gallery, set up with support from UK Centre for Carnival Arts artists Ruth Reid and Chauntier.

From motherhood and the weight we carry, to Carnival, creativity, culture and resilience, Melissa gives us a little more insight into the story woven into this incredible piece.

Our family fun day is in full swing! Don’t forget to come prepared for the hot weather. We have cold water on hand to cool you down and have moved our activities to the shadier areas. Come along for a day of dance, music, poetry and creativity and enjoy our shade.

The exhibition Celebrating Luton Carnival has had an exciting upgrade!

Last week, the spectacular Papa Bois costume arrived at Wardown House, Museum & Gallery. Handcrafted by Melissa Simon-Hartman in collaboration with Elaine Lister, the installation was overseen by Melissa herself, with support from UK Centre for Carnival Arts artists Chauntier Irish‑Downes and Ruth Reid and our curatorial team.

Make sure you stop by and visit, the exhibition is open until the end of August!
