I feel very proud to have my artwork chosen as a gift by Kevin McKenna MP for HMS Medway. It is nice to be mentioned on Kevin's post! Forever grateful!

A special connection between the River Medway and the Falklands 🇬🇧🇫🇰

It was a privilege to recently visit HMS Medway in the Falkland Islands as part of the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme, where the ship and her crew are currently stationed to help protect the Falklands and serve our nation.

HMS Medway has a particularly strong connection to our area. Named after the River Medway, the ship’s namesake flows past Sheerness and out into the Thames Estuary.

During my visit, I was delighted to bring gifts from the Sheppey Sea Cadets, along with a beautiful painting by local artist Sean Mayes depicting Brickfields Wharf in Lower Halstow, overlooking the mouth of the River Medway.

These gifts were a small but heartfelt way of saying thank you to the sailors of HMS Medway for their dedication, professionalism and service to our country.

From the banks of the Medway to the South Atlantic, the connection between HMS Medway and our local community remains strong.⚓️

A huge thank you to everyone serving aboard HMS Medway. Your service is appreciated and remembered back home in Sheppey and across the Medway communities.

I recently received a call from my local MP Kevin McKenna, asking if he could pop in to see me at home. Kevin purchased one of my paintings as a gift he would be giving to HMS Medway as part of a big ceremony he was attending.

Kevin was kind enough to then share pictures with me of him handing over my painting to the crew as promised!

I was blown away to have my art in his office at the Houses of Parliament and this was another completely unexpected surprise and privilege.

Something that will stay will me forever!

I am beyond proud to be able to share this and know my artwork is now displayed on this ship.

I got this message from a customer at the weekend. This is what it is all about for me. I started painting for fun/relaxation/mental health.

I never expected to sell anything. It was only because people in my village asked if I would consider this. It was never about making money. If I break even on costs each year, then it's a good year.

I only sell at two Christmas fayres in my village as my full time job is looking after 13 schools and supporting pupils with SEMH needs.

Getting replies like this really make it all worthwhile.
