🐾 DAVE CAT UPDATE! 🐾

Dave is getting there! 😂
I'm finally down to all those little finishing details now — and I have to say, I'm getting rather attached to this grumpy little fella.

Sardines are open.
Catnip has been raided.
The mice appear to have moved in.
And Dave clearly has absolutely NO REGRETS.

This is the first time I've created and painted my own original character, and I've already got far too many ideas about where Dave could go next. 😈🎄🎸
So I want to know...

I’ve just realised there are now 694 of you following my little corner of colourful chaos! ❤️

For anyone new here hi, I’m Samantha 👋 I paint anything that grabs my imagination… music legends, attitude, pop culture, ridiculous ideas, things with a story behind them and occasionally something that makes me wonder what on earth I was thinking 😂

The Corner of Creations has become my studio, gallery and the place where all of those ideas come to life.

I’m now just 6 followers away from 700, so I’m asking for a tiny favour…

WIP — MEET DAVE! 🐾

Well… I think it’s finally time I introduced you to someone who has been living in my head for quite a while.

This is Dave.

Dave isn't a commission, a celebrity or an existing character. He's mine. ❤️

He's scruffy, slightly inappropriate, completely comfortable in his own skin and really doesn't care what anybody thinks.

Sardines ✔️
Catnip ✔️
A couple of questionable friends ✔️
Absolutely no shame ✔️
And of course…
IT'S A DAVE THING.

There's still a long way to go with this first painting, but I'm already falling a little bit in love with him.

This is the beginning of Dave's story —and if all goes to plan, you're going to be seeing quite a lot more of him.

🐾 IT’S FINALLY TIME TO MEET DAVE…
Now that Dobby is finished, it’s time for a project that is incredibly important to me.
Dave Cat. 🐈‍⬛

I first designed Dave almost two years ago. He’s been sitting there ever since, waiting… mainly because I’ve been too nervous to actually start painting him!

But I think I’m finally ready. ❤️

Dave isn’t just one painting. He has a story to tell, a slightly questionable attitude, some VERY colourful friends and, hopefully, a whole world of his own.

And this is where it all begins.
The stencil is printed.
The canvas is ready.
And after nearly two years…
Dave is finally coming to life. 🎨

I have absolutely no idea where this little character is going to take me — and that's probably the most exciting part.

DOBBY IS A FREE ELF! ⚡️🧦

After sitting patiently in my WIP pile for TWO YEARS, Dobby is officially on his way to being completed!

But somewhere along the way, things took a bit of a turn… 😂

The sweet little house elf has had a full NO REGRETS makeover sunglasses, tattoos, attitude and all.

NO MASTER. NO REGRETS.

Just a few finishing details to go and this rebellious little elf is finally FREE! 🖤

For those of you who’ve visited my studio, you’ll probably recognise Dobby… 👀

He’s been sitting there patiently waiting for nearly TWO YEARS for me to finally finish him! 😂

Well, today was the day… although things have taken a bit of a turn. 🖤🤘

Dobby has officially turned to the dark side and his NO REGRETS makeover is underway!

Tattoos incoming ✔️
Attitude loading… ✔️
Absolutely NO REGRETS ✔️
After two years of waiting, I think he deserves his freedom!

⚡🎨 Finally finished my Bowie-inspired piece! 🎨⚡
This was never designed to be a realistic painting of Bowie. I wanted to create a Samantha ‘No Regrets’ interpretation bold, colourful, a little rebellious and unmistakably inspired by one of music’s greatest icons. ⚡

I absolutely loved transforming an old mirror into something completely different. The ornate gold frame, oversized gold halo, turquoise, reds and graphic details all came together to give it that larger-than-life rock ’n’ roll feel I was looking for.

It’s definitely been a labour of love, but seeing it standing there finished makes it all worth it.

This is what I love about art there are no rules. Take the inspiration and make it your own.

⚡ END OF DAY 2 — BOWIE inspired WIP ⚡

Inspired by music once again… and I think it's safe to say this one has completely taken over my studio! 🎨🎸
Day 2 and he's really starting to come alive.
The colour is in, the gold halo is glowing and I've kept the background loose, dark and distressed so Bowie remains the star of the show.

There are still a few final facial details to refine next time — then he'll be ready to go back into his huge ornate gold frame. ✨

And would you believe this started life as an old mirror?

Sometimes the most exciting part of creating is seeing what something could be, rather than what it already is. 🖤

🎸 Inspired by music once again… 🎨

There’s something about music that just keeps pulling me back creatively.

Today’s work in progress is a BIG one breathing new life into an old mirror and turning it into a statement piece of original art.
David Bowie is beginning to emerge. ⚡

Still lots to do… his face, that iconic lightning bolt, layers of shading, metallic details, the gold halo and plenty of texture are all still to come.

But I’m already loving how the turquoise and red are starting to pop against that dark background and that original ornate gold frame was just crying out for something dramatic!

Sometimes the best canvas isn't a canvas at all. 🖤
