Welcoming “hoa hoa hoa season” 🌲🕯️
I ended up at a Twilight screening at the London Coliseum — with a live orchestra and candlelight.

It just so happens that I rewatch Twilight once a year, and I genuinely see it as an important pop culture artifact. The last time was with my best friends — we went through all the movies, good food on the table, and cultural conversations in between.

It’s fascinating how, after all these years, the film still feels relevant (and probably will for a long time), despite all the toxic dynamics and triple-layered drama inside it.

Watching it in a theatre, though, is a whole different experience. First of all, the audience was almost entirely women. Second, you start noticing the collective reactions: Edward’s brooding stares spark hysterical laughter, Charlie gets rounds of applause (we all know why), and Bella earns gentle chuckles. Overall, pure sisterhood and catharsis.

Why is a tour of the Harry Potter studio NOT a “tourist trap”?

Harry Potter has long been an absolute non-negotiable Christmas movie that you feel rather than watch.
And there’s something to see!

Cultural tour of millennials. A place where you return not for new information, but for a deep, familiar comfort.

Yes, butter beer feels like it’s been bottled there since filming, but I don’t recommend it. And the gift shop? Let’s just say that this is a test of your self-control at the Hogwarts level. But these are just footnotes.

I have experienced an amazing tribute to the thousands of artists, technicians and chefs who created this world. Seeing hand-sewn costumes, miniature paintings and models is a real master class in invisible craftsmanship. It’s very touching.

So, is it worth the galleons? Absolutely.

A new issue of my newsletter is out today — dedicated to two women who changed the way we look at the world.

M.F.K. Fisher, who transformed food writing by turning appetite into a cultural language — a way of thinking, remembering, and moving through life.

And Lee Miller, model, Man Ray’s muse, surrealist, and later a war correspondent whose photographs of the liberated camps remain some of the most uncompromising images of the twentieth century.

Mexico happened like a fever dream.
I flew in “just for tacos” and somehow ended up writing an entire newsletter, because Mexico City never lets you stay a tourist for long.

CDMX is clean, green, absurdly delicious: street food that’s never met a health inspector sits next door to Michelin-level bars with very un-European prices. We ate dozens of tacos, realised burritos are basically a myth, overdosed on mole (100+ ingredients, my respect), and drank every possible form of michelada, paloma, margarita and mezcal. Drinking here is a full sensory opera.

Cultural plans fell apart in favour of food — except for one masterpiece: Museo Diego Rivera Anahuacalli, Rivera’s volcanic, pyramid-like temple for pre-Columbian art. And yes, I also saw the infamous Estela de Luz, the “light monument” that turned into a perfectly vertical symbol of corruption and evaporated budgets.

Food photos in the carousel, because Mexico is a place where even my art commentary starts with tacos.
