About: “Made in Nowhere is an experimental short film that combines AI-generated imagery with live-action footage to explore the shifting identities of products within global consumer culture. Many commodities present themselves through narratives of international origin, authenticity, or cultural heritage, yet their identities are continuously reconstructed through local manufacturing, global circulation, and algorithmic distribution, becoming increasingly detached from any single place of origin.
Structured around a single ordinary day, the film follows everyday encounters with coffee, food, clothing, electronics, and other consumer products. It constantly shifts between AI-generated advertisements, observational live-action footage, and mock documentary narration. Familiar objects gradually lose their stable identities, revealing the hidden systems of production, logistics, marketing, and data that shape them. As information accumulates, the visual language becomes increasingly fragmented. Products cease to function as commodities and instead dissolve into training data, logistics networks, and cultural symbols. In the final sequence, everything returns to its most fundamental material state—food becomes wheat, clothing becomes wool, drinks become water—before the cycle begins again.”
