Protect & Survive

Protect & Survive Protect & Survive is an audio-visual installation set inside a real WW2 bunker. A unique experience combining narrative illustration with live performance.

Protect & Survive is an audio-visual, fictional instillation narrative, set inside a nuclear bunker and created by Juliet Sugg. Its story unfolds via illustrated ‘moments’, a giant narrative diagram, audio fragments, sculptural dioramas and performance. It is a theatrical experience, essentially a live graphic novel, asking the viewer to inhabit its walls, and immerse themselves inside its world.

The notion of time and specifics are obscured, but via ‘cutaways’ and diagrammatic language, each framed picture is treated like a comic book panel and a sense of narrative can be individually interpreted. The installation space itself was in a surviving WW2 underground bunker in Dalston. Untouched for over 60 years, the bunker remains in its original state. The show is running for 3 days/nights (September 26th, 27th & 28th). All performances start around 8pm however Sunday 28th is a matinee show starting around 2.30pm. Please visit the event page for more details on tickets etc. Please note all the work from the show will be on sale at the bunker, including the brand new full printed "comic" of all 72 illustrations, in sequence.
