Pollock's Toy Museum

Pollock's Toy Museum Tin toys, teddy bears, dolls houses, puppets, optical toys and games from around the world adorn the winding staircases and creaking rooms.

Po***ck’s Toy Museum is the UK's oldest toy museum with over 7000 objects, currently looking for a permanent home but can be found at pop-ups in Leadenhall and Croydon in 2024 Po***ck's Toy Museum is a collection of 7000 toys, games and childhood ephemera currently looking for a permanent home in London.

The collection is an eclectic mix of curios, each room filled with unique cases displaying

toys from the past. At the heart of the museum is its extensive and unrivalled collection of toy theatres with a comprehensive archive of plays and plates.

The Museum is named after Benjamin Po***ck, the last of the Toy Theatre makers. Mr Po***ck had a shop and printers, dating back to the 1850s, based in Hoxton in the east end of London. Mr Po***ck hand printed, constructed and coloured much of the Toy Theatre material housed in the museum today.

The Museum is now run by volunteers from Po***ck's Toy Museum Trust, a charity established in 1969, with the support of Jack, the great grandson of founders Marguerite and Kenneth Fawdry.

Please do come and visit one of our pop-ups and get in touch if you can help us find a permanent home.

developed the first mass produced chocolate eggs in the 1870s. But these were expensive luxury confections aimed at adults rather than children.

2. Red hares as a surprise in a Polish wooden egg. Anglicised as the Easter bunny, hares are part of an ancient European folk belief that hares laid eggs in springtime.

3. Po***ck’s Toy Museum houses a beautiful collection of wooden Easter eggs containing surprises and gifts from Germany,Poland, India and Russia.

Inspired by Paddington’s recent appearance presenting the Po***ck’s Paddington has had a bit of a rummage in the museum store and found the 1948 Oscar film star board game. The rules seem a bit complicated, so he‘s decided just to award the little silver plastic Oscar to some of his theatrical bear friends-who are taking it in turns to be honoured.
