Peter McDonald
Until 30 May 2026

Open Tuesday - Saturday, 11am-5pm

Featuring wall paintings that extend across the gallery, the works bring to the fore the artist’s studio and the acts of painting and looking. McDonald reflects on the nature of creativity, while playfully reconfiguring pictorial space.

"As painting is often a solitary activity, I enjoy working away from canvas and paper and exploring social spaces. This often leads to meaningful encounters which can provoke conversation and inspire future paintings. My Disco installation at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art Kanazawa was an 80-metre immersive wall painting wrapped around the gallery; the space was transformed into a shared communal place, much like a Renaissance church or a prehistoric cave." - Peter McDonald

Ben Rivers
'We have myth to protect us when history goes mad'
6 March - 11 April 2026

Open Tuesday - Saturday, 11am-5pm

Ben Rivers presents a chapter from his film 'Mare’s Nest' (2025), based on 'The Word for Snow' (2007), a one-act play by the American novelist Don DeLillo.

Set after an ecological catastrophe, the work imagines a future in which language begins to unravel, losing its connection to the world it once described. As landscapes vanish and species disappear, the film examines the limits of expression and the extent to which speech can disguise as much as it reveals.

Rio Kobayashi
'Crooked Pencils'
15 November - 20 December 2025

Open Tuesday - Saturday, 11am-5pm

A crooked pencil symbolises an unconventional creative and irregular process, one that embraces irregularity and finds beauty in imperfection.

Works in the show have been made from a walnut wardrobe, a mahogany folding screen and reclaimed doors, shelving and fireplaces from a Victorian townhouse. Kobayashi combines wood, metal and glass in functional yet playful compositions, with varied references to science fiction, motorsport and Buddhist iconography.
