This is the funerary mask of Wendjebauendjedet, an ancient Egyptian high official. It once rested over his mummy’s face.

For ancient Egyptians, gold was more than a sign of wealth. They associated it with the skin of the gods, and its lasting brilliance made it a powerful symbol of eternal life and rebirth.

This gold, carnelian and feldspar collar belonged to Princess Neferuptah. In ancient Egypt, falcons were associated with Horus, the god of kingship and a protector of royalty. Beautifully made, every detail carried meaning.
