'Loughborough Junction Pigeon No.52', is a piece by Hugh Gilmour, shown as part of Our Autonomous Nature II at Testbed1 in 2013.

A graduate from the RCA, he has a studio at Loughborough Junction where 'he studies the unique evolution of the Loughborough Junction Pigeon'.

"Hugh's exploration into the world of the Loughborough Junction Pigeon leads him to all sorts of curious insights. Urban pigeons are part of the fabric and makeup of the landscape, we hear them, we know they are there but do we pay attention to their culture?

Hugh has taken the knarled pigeon and bedecked with jewels and kitch glamour. They have become their own species, an advanced consumerist in their own society."

Catalogue and Curator's Notes written by Chloë Tinsley in Our Autonomous Nature II, 2013.

Behind Hugh's piece, Turner Prize Winner Grenville Davey's 'all flesh is grass - (book of Isiah?) II' or curator's short hand - 'the eyes'.

Sculptor Hugh Gilmour works in fluid shape and form, weaving stories through the delicate line between Man and Nature. Take a look at his website. If you are looking for something unique, these pieces are totally one of a kind.

Each one beautiful in the way they work, the found object into the organic. Like the treats you might find in a home cavern of an almost human pigeon. Curious and more curious. To be understood from your own perspective but what an insight into this universe.

We've seen more birds over lockdown, freed from their hidden constraints perhaps. Explore your way through these nuggets. On a plinth in the kitchen, or by the stairs so you can see them in all their glory. https://hughgilmour.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/100_3744.jpg
