Highlights from today's Community Group visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, with access to see THE SINGH TWINS: Botanical Tales and Seeds of Empire at the Shirley Sherwood Gallery in Kew Gardens.

Thank you to the 120+ who booked to attend and those Kew members who joined us, with apologies to those who we could not accommodate. The exhibition, treetop walk, gardens, lakes, temperate house, great pagoda, and palm house were enjoyed by all.

Over 4,000 Indian troops visited Hampton Court Palace in the years surrounding the First World War for coronations and post-war celebrations. A new play explores what happened.

"The Indian Army At The Palace" exhibition curated by A little History of the Sikhs at Hampton Court Palace.

Our Local Studies Library has two unique photographs of Indian troops at Romford Station in June 1902. They were in England for the Coronation of Edward VII and arrived in Romford on 20th June at 12.30 pm by special train from Hampton Court where they were camped. They visited the Essex Agricultural Show held at Marshalls Park.

"A little History of the Sikhs" have curated an exhibition, “The Indian Army at the Palace” currently on at Hampton Court Palace until 1st February 2026, which includes much about the Indian troops at Hampton Court in 1902.

Sharing details of some special events this November, with live theatre performances by at Hampton Court Palace.

The short plays, "Sepoys in the Great Hall," "Sepoys and the Spanish Flu," and "Chai with a Maharani," vividly portray stories of the Indian Army at the Palace.

We also have three Sikh & Punjab Heritage Day events at the Palace where we will provide our introductory talks and guided tours timed to ensure you see all three live performances at the scheduled times.
