We are ready to welcome you back to the gallery and introduce you to Us.

After a summer of planning, plotting and working closely with artists, we begin the autumn with Bodily Inbetweenness, Woo Jin Joo’s first solo exhibition at Ruup & Form.

Moving between familiarity and strangeness, Woo Jin’s works inhabit states that resist easy definition. Her forms draw on the bodily and the be***al, creating an uncanny world that feels at once strange, tender and deeply familiar.

Developed through a close and ongoing curatorial dialogue between Woo Jin and Ruup & Form, Bodily Inbetweenness brings her internal world into the gallery, where creatures and forms appear at times be***al, at times gentle, and always in a state of becoming.

Subversive Stitches

Barbara Long takes the most ordinary cloth in the house and gives it a great deal to say. Worn tea towels and dish cloths, darned, overworked and blazoned with ironic and often biting texts.

At Textile Day she speaks about writing and darning as acts of activism, and about her choice of red. Then she hands you a needle.

At Ruup & Form, we believe that meaningful ideas grow through meaningful connections. Before It Became Work was created to offer artists something increasingly rare: time and space to think together.

A space where artists can speak openly about the questions, experiments, materials and moments of uncertainty that exist before a work finds its final form. A space where process is valued as deeply as outcome.

On 17 June 2026, that intention came beautifully to life. The gallery was filled with generosity, curiosity and thoughtful conversation. Ideas were shared freely, experiences exchanged honestly, and every contribution was met with genuine care. It was a reminder that some of the most important moments in an artist's practice happen long before the work reaches the wall.

This is what Before It Became Work, Ruup & Form's inaugural Gallery Artist Convene, is about.

Cultivating a community where artists support one another, challenge one another and grow together. Creating opportunities for conversations that might not otherwise happen. Believing that when knowledge, experience and generosity are shared, everyone leaves enriched.

I came away deeply inspired and already looking forward to the next gathering.

My heartfelt thanks to Jed Green, Vic Wright, Bridget Harvey, Kerry Lemon, Woo Jin Joo and Henrietta MacPhee for your extraordinary generosity of time, knowledge and heart. Thank you for bringing such openness to the day and for making this first convene everything I had hoped it would be.

Textile Day at Ruup & Form Gallery, in collaboration with Selvedge Magazine

Wednesday 30 September, 2 - 6 pm

Join us for an afternoon of talks, workshops and making with five of our artists as we bring London Textile Month 2026 to a close.

Barbara Long, Christopher Kelly, Bridget Harvey, Katerina Knight and Woo Jin Joo will share their practices, processes and the ideas and materials that shape their work.

Three of the five sessions are hands on, so you will leave having made something of your own. No previous experience is needed and all materials will be provided.

💛 Meet your new favourite beings 💛

This September, Woo Jin Joo brings Bodily Inbetweenness to Ruup & Form Gallery, her first solo exhibition, and honestly, we have been bursting to tell you.

Working across freehand machine embroidery, textiles, and ceramics, Woo Jin draws on folklore and a process she calls myth-making to conjure creatures caught somewhere between forming and fully here. Some are gentle, protective presences; one is even made to be sat beside. Others hold something unknown just beneath the softness, watching back. Together they open a door onto our innate worlds, the ones born within us, coexisting quietly alongside our own.

For two months, the gallery becomes their world. Come through the door and into it. 💜

Presented as part of Shoreditch Design Week and London Design Festival 2026.

Woojin Joo London Design Festival Shoreditch Design Week

The Walls Speak in Flowers has come to a close.

For six weeks the gallery held clay and colour, and for a little while the walls did speak. Thank you to the artists of Common Clay, whose work made the room bloom in ways not entirely predicted, and to Common Clay for the trust placed in Ruup & Form to hold it.

A particular thank you to Rosalind Faram, Agata Bogacka, Charlie Brookes and Katalina Caliendo for the collective reading on the evening of 30 July. Four voices gathered close around the work, the gallery went quiet, and the flowers on the walls found language. One of those evenings that stays.

Thank you to everyone who came through the door, looked slowly, asked questions, and stayed longer than intended. To those who returned a second and third time. To the collectors who carried a piece home, where it will keep speaking.

The walls will be bare again, holding the faint marks of what hung there. A short pause, and then the next season begins.

With warmth, and with flowers still in mind.

Maya Shapiro-Steen studied at the Slade School of Fine Art and completed an MA in Anthropology at UCL, a pairing that shapes a practice attentive to process, dialogue and the social life of making. Within Common Clay she works as a support artist alongside Will Shepherd, and her own stoneware forms carry that same ethos of care and material exploration. Three small untitled works, quiet, closely scaled and made to be looked at slowly.

Katie Boccaccini-Meadows uses the discipline of ceramics to create conceptual work exploring the human condition through our relationship to objects.

A graduate of Bath School of Art and Design and New Designer of the Year runner up, her works Pierced, Milk and Crystalline sit alongside Soft-Deco, a wheel thrown sconce in a soft pink matte glaze reminiscent of early twentieth century design. One week remains to see the exhibition.
