The Visionary Art of Alex Grey & Allyson Grey are presented through stunning animations and CG adaptations, transforming their artwork into an enveloping environment. The animation was produced by Illusionaries’ in-house creatives in collaboration with Glasseye and composers Mahyar Zarifi and Reza Tavakoli, enhancing an illuminating spectacle within an evocative soundscape.

Entheon is a unique and groundbreaking sanctuary dedicated to visionary art, located in Hudson Valley, New York. Conceived by the renowned visionary artists Alex Grey & Allyson Grey, Entheon stands as a monument to the power of art as a medium for spiritual and consciousness exploration. This architectural marvel is not merely a gallery; it is an immersive experience that features a precious collection of works by Alex Grey, Allyson Grey, and notable Visionary artists from around the world.

The name ‘Entheon’ means a place to discover the God within, and it perfectly encapsulates the sanctuary’s mission to inspire the viewer to explore deeper dimensions of their being and the interconnectedness of all life. Entheon’s design and structure reflect the Greys’ vision of a sacred space that embodies universal symbols and archetypal themes found in mystical traditions.

The Hall of Beings

Inspired by Alex Grey’s () drawing, “Great Hall of Beings,” this infinity mirror passageway offers a mesmerising glimpse of echoing reflections of boundlessness. The installation features soundscapes composed by Simon Haiduk, Mahyar Zarifi, and Reza Tavakoli, along with intricate lighting that invites the viewer to contemplate their inter-reflective consciousness.

Love feels like a cosmic force. We can’t explain it or measure it with instruments, yet the knowledge and experience of love are proof enough and validate the fundamental insights of the mystical traditions. Many religions declare the likeness of God and Love. Beyond the skin, primordial energies of eros channel through us. It is truly miraculous that our biochemistry and anatomy support the experience of our imaginations’ projections of passion.⠀

How would the universe exist, were it not for the love rites of Shiva and Shakti? Love is the attraction, tension, and dynamism that plays itself out on every level in our lives. Doesn’t the electron love the nucleus? Taoism abstracts this principle with the yin-yang symbol. Hinduism and ta***ic Buddhism use symbols of the union of cosmic lovers: Shiva and Shakti or Samantabadhra and Samantabhadri. Temporal form is secretly and erotically interpenetrated by timeless, formless primordial reality. This is the real sacred marriage, the true “hieros gamos.” Love is the mystic background to the foreground of the surface reality.

The Spiritual Energy System portrays the dissolving boundaries between our self and surroundings. In this vision, the body is no longer a separate entity but has become a permeable channel for the circulation of esoteric energies of higher consciousness that are ever-present and connect the self with the world. Parallel lines of force stream through the body, extending out from the crown of the head and curling back around to the feet, creating a toroidal flow that symbolises this profound interconnectedness.

The Sacred Mirrors series is a unique work of contemporary sacred art, created by Alex Grey between 1979 and 1989. This installation, consisting of framed images that include paintings and two etched mirrors, delves into the anatomy of the body, mind, and spirit in exquisite detail. Each painting presents a life-sized figure facing the viewer, inviting them to mirror the images and, in doing so, creating a sense of seeing into oneself. Through open-minded aesthetic contemplation of the Sacred Mirrors, one’s identity shifts from a focus on the material body to an awareness of spiritual light. These life-sized representations of the human body, portraying both its physical and energetic systems, are scientifically precise and vividly visionary.

This installation features a majestic 13-foot statue of Alex Grey’s Steeplehead with Allyson Grey’s Secret Writing on the base. This giant “four-faced God” symbolises people of the four directions coming together in visionary oneness. A 9-foot Steeplehead stand atop Entheon in the Hudson Valley.
 
The garden is further enriched by Allyson Grey’s Secret Writing mural, serving as a personal and collective meditation on the structures of thought, life, and enlightenment. Additionally, the presence of a full moon within the garden is a tribute to the full moon ceremonies held at CoSM, consecutively in an unbroken chain for over twenty-one years, fostering community connection and shared spiritual celebrations.
 
This installation, a collaborative creation of Illusionaries’ in-house creatives, features a meticulously produced projection mapping exhibit by Deltaprocess (.it) and captivating soundscapes orchestrated by Elia Zupin and Organic Audio.
