Sirak Melkonian 1930 - 2024

Sirak Melkonian was born in Fardoun Village, Iran in 1930. He studied painting with Marcos Grigorian, a pioneer of Iranian Modern art.

In the 1950s, Melkonian along with artists E. Svarchian, R. Zarian and R.A. Hayrapetian was associated with Studio Démon, a small arts studio in Tehran that produced popular works.

He gained national recognition in 1957, winning a prize at the Contemporary Iranian Artist Exhibition of the Iran American Society. This was followed by the Imperial Court Prize at the Tehran Biennale in 1958 and first prize at the Paris Biennale in 1959. The artist has exhibited at the Grand Palais and the Salon De Montrouge in Paris, as well as Washington International.

Pablo Picasso, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, was born on October 25, 1881, in Málaga, Spain. His life was a testament to artistic innovation and a relentless pursuit of creative expression.From a young age, Picasso displayed an extraordinary talent for art. He received formal training from his father, an art teacher, and quickly outgrew his mentor's skills. His early work reflected classical techniques and a strong foundation in realism, but Picasso's desire to push artistic boundaries soon became evident.The early 1900s marked the beginning of Picasso's Blue Period, a phase characterized by somber and monochromatic paintings that reflected his own struggles and feelings of isolation. This period evolved into the Rose Period, where he embraced warmer colors and lighter themes, including circus performers and harlequins.However, it was Picasso's co-founding of the Cubist movement with Georges Braque that brought him lasting fame and recognition. Cubism challenged traditional representation by deconstructing objects into geometric shapes and facets. Works like "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon" and "Guernica" exemplified his groundbreaking approach to art.Picasso's personal life was marked by complex relationships with several women, often influencing his work. His artistic versatility was evident through his exploration of various mediums, from painting and sculpture to ceramics and printmaking.Pablo Picasso's enduring legacy is a testament to his remarkable ability to evolve and innovate as an artist. His work continues to inspire and influence generations of artists, and his name remains synonymous with creativity and boundary-pushing in the art world.

Words may not suffice to express the heartfelt sorrow that we feel for the passing of Ebrahim Golestan.
Ebrahim Golestan was an Iranian filmmaker and literary figure with a career spanning half a century. He was closely associated with the controversial and eminent Iranian poet Forough Farrokhzad until her death, whom he met at his studio in 1958. He is said to have inspired her to live more independently.
