We’re delighted to be introducing artist Emily Jolley as part of Parenthood: The Art of Caring.

Jolley's abstract paintings are driven by the idea of capturing a moment and holding onto a feeling. She works with an eclectic mix of materials, from household paints to industrial surfaces, creating a playful balance between spontaneity and control. Her process leaves plenty of room for the unexpected, with each work evolving through a mix of instinct, chance and considered decisions. We’re excited to be bringing Jolley's work to the gallery for the first time this September.

We will be unveiling an artwork that Jolley created in the wake of a miscarriage. An intensely emotive work shaped by her experience of loss and grief, it explores a hidden side of parenthood; one that is rarely spoken about, yet touches the lives of so many.

Join us on Thursday 3rd September from 6-9pm for the private view. Be first to see the exhibition as a whole body of work, have the chance to meet the participating artists, and enjoy a drink from our event sponsor Crystal Palace Wine Club.

Meet Laxmi Hussain, the poster artist of "Parenthood: The Art of Caring"

Laxmi has been drawing for as long as she can remember, but it was after the birth of her first child that she turned her passion into a profession. Re-inspired by the creativity and joy of her children, she picked up the pencil again, finding art to be a way of reclaiming her own identity within the emotional blur of motherhood. Her intricate line work explores the natural forms of the body, parenthood and the ways our bodies evolve throughout life.

Join us on Thursday 3rd September from 6-9pm for the private view 🥂✨

We’re delighted to welcome Amy Gardner to the gallery for Parenthood: The Art of Caring.

Australian-born, London-based artist Gardner is known for her bold use of colour and playful approach, exploring womanhood, identity and the often unseen labour of women.

Working across printmaking, collage and photography, Amy reworks imagery from 1950s advertising archives to challenge ideas of the ‘perfect woman’.

Come and see Gardners' work at the opening of Parenthood: The Art of Caring on Thursday 3rd September, 6–9pm.

Next up in our line up for "Parenthood: The Art of Caring" we have Ben Newman, who has just delivered four brand new artworks to the gallery.

Ben’s practice is deeply rooted in family and collaboration. His father, Colin, was a tool maker with a passion for woodworking, and for the past five years they’ve continued to collaborate on Ben’s paintings. Colin hand-cuts the intricate wooden pieces from Ben’s sketches, which Ben then paints and plays with. It’s a process that has become a shared part of their lives.

Come along on Thursday 3rd September 6-9pm to see Newmans' latest pieces at the opening of Parenthood: The Art of Caring.

We’re excited to see Anna Sudbina presenting new work for Parenthood: The Art of Caring.

A full-time artist and mother, Anna’s work explores memory, emotion and the blurry space between the two. Her portraits aren’t about likeness, but feeling, with faces fading, forms shifting and plenty of unexpected tools making their way into the process.

If you’ve followed Anna’s work with us before, you’ll know there’s always more beneath the surface.

Next up in our line up for "Parenthood: The Art of Caring" is TCG gallery director and artist Tom Cox. As a relatively new father of two, this exhibition was created as a desire to understand his own experiences of parenthood. The vast change of pace that occurs in ones life, the joy of the cuddles, the love gained, and the sense of loss of self. The juxtaposition of emotions which accompany this new and enduring chapter of life.

For this exhibition, Cox will create a bespoke work that brings the visual language of his Vibrant Woodland series into the world of parenthood. In the meantime, here’s a glimpse at some of his current works.

Meet Florence Lee, a Bristol-based expressive figurative and portrait artist whose work brings emotion, energy and individuality to the people she paints. For Parenthood: The Art of Caring, Lee’s work captures the joy, emotion and fleeting moments of childhood through these playful, expressive compositions.

After a series of life-changing events in 2018, Lee began pursuing her art full-time, quickly building an impressive body of work. Her expressive approach to portraiture gives each subject a strong sense of presence, inviting us to connect with the people and stories behind the image.

Discover Lee’s work in Parenthood: The Art of Caring, our 2026 Open Call exhibition.
