RETURN
Recent works by John Bicknell and Erika Winstone
Morley Gallery | 28 May – 20 June

Return reunites John Bicknell and Erika Winstone three years after shared residencies in Greece and London.

Erika Winstone is a long-standing tutor at Morley College: previously a lecturer in fine art, now director of the Fine Art Mentoring Course. Her work experiments with installation, video, print and painting to capture growth within the human psyche. John Bicknell is a multifaceted artist - working with fine art, theatre and film - exploring figuration and abstraction against the Greek landscape, drawing on a range of inspirations. Their chance meeting during their shared studio residencies in Greece and London resulted in their first joint exhibition Host (2024) at FokiaNou Gallery Athens. Return marks their first collaborative exhibition in London.

Touching Eden
Morley Gallery | 23 April – 9 May

Showcasing the works of Morley’s talented painting and drawing tutors. Touching Eden considers Eden as a fragile, provisional point of origin, continually reimagined. Works by Fine Art tutors at Morley College London reflect the balance between individual practice and shared responsibility, shaped through making, mentoring, and learning. Here, Eden is not preserved but reworked and revisited, an active site where practice and pedagogy remain inseparable from risk, responsibility, and change.

Adrian Bartlett, Painter and Printmaker
11 - 28 February 2026
Morley Gallery

This exhibition presents more than 60 years of paintings, prints and drawings by Adrian Bartlett.

His work is widely represented in international public and private collections, including the British Museum. He studied at Camberwell School of Art and the University of Durham and was active among the group of artists who from the 1960’s promoted artists’ original prints as a unique and accessible art form to a wider public. He served as Chairman of the Printmakers’ Council and President of the London Group and was a member of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers.

Acute observation and drawing are the essence of his etchings, lithography, and woodcuts, combining technical inventions and skill with a deep respect for the artist masters of the past.

Sunlight, movement, and the transparency of colour are integral to his images. We see people walking, cycling, and running in urban scenes, while other images reflect Greek life, landscape and myth, and the drama of the sea.

Adrian Bartlett worked at Morley College from 1962 to 1999, starting as a Wood Engraving and Linocut tutor and later becoming Head of Printmaking.
