I have been having a very happy and inspiring last 10 months working hard on the MASS Sculpture Programme. It’s a programme offering mentorship support to artists from other practising artists. We are ending in one final group show called Heave, which you are very much invited to come and see.

As you may know I’m into clay! I haven’t stopped my clay work but I’ve been learning how to use other materials too like paper, fabric, light and plastic. Come and see what I've been making and what all the other wonderfully diverse sculptors have developed during our time on MASS.

Heave opens with a Private View 6-9pm on Friday 26th June.
And is open every day from Saturday 27th June 12-5pm until Sat 4th July.
Venue and travel details below.

I’ll be at the Private View on the 26th June. Come and say hi.

Venue: Thames-side Studios Gallery & MASS HQ (just opposite each other) Harrington Way, off Warspite Rd, London SE18 5NR

Transport: Nearest Tube station is Woolwich Arsenal on the Elizabeth Line. Nearest train station is Woolwich Dockyard (on the line from Cannon Street, quickest route is via Lewisham). Lots of buses (177, 161, and 180) to the nearest stop at Cleveley Close (Stop V).

Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Photos from my second residency MASS Sculpture

Wonderful to experience the freedom of working in a much larger space.

My work is highly personal and based on my life experiences including medical trauma.

Great support and interesting discussions from fellow artists

SNAG 2: An exhibition of work by a group of artists involved in the MASS sculpture program.

With an understanding that sculpture is mutable, debatable, shared, and dynamic, this temporary assemblage of works invites new interpretations in the language of matter, space and form. A vibrant intra-action between subjects, objects and this extraordinary derelict Victorian house. Each element retains an energetic pulse yet is affected by external relations, boundaries become fluid, the works generate something other than themselves - weaving patterns of unintentional co-ordination.

Pics from my first residency on the wonderful .sculpture programme. So liberating to work in a larger studio space at MASS

I was playing with how to combine other materials with my ceramics and while doing that I realised I learnt how to make site specific art installations!

Thanks to the residency artist mentor for her inspiring mentoring support and to all the other artists on the residency .emma .holy who all gave such insightful, help, support and feedback. Also thank you to .delta and who lent me the lights and projectors I needed to make these pieces.

This wall sculpture is an abstract portrait collage in ceramics, it is called "Comforting Insecurity 3". It captures a sense of movement and life of the subject person. I'm attracted to using collage to express things that appear to be opposite but can often be experienced at the same time like calm impatience or comforting insecurity. Contrasting colours, images and found objects in my work represent the diversity of life and give the element of surprise.

A wall sculpture made from ceramic paper clay and found materials. "Comforting Insecurity 3" is a portrait ceramic sculpture. This portrait shows the complexities of the person and their contrasting personality. The colours, imagery and collage of found objects included in the piece are significant to the persons it portrays. It has been fired to stoneware temperature, glazed and has a collage of decals and enamel hand painting on it.

"Comforting Insecurity 3" is an abstract portrait sculpture. Made in ceramic and found materials. It is amazing what happens when you change perspective.... instead of being a table top piece, I decided to hang it on the wall and it suddenly became more dynamic and visceral. Illustrating the complex contrasting characteristics of the person it portrays and the way they made me feel.
