Hand sanitizer at the ready for today's open day!
Come along and say hello 11am - dusk 🙂
Today, for the first time in many moths, we have been able to run our engine 🙂
Earlier this year the fire that destroyed the The Markfield Project Adventure playground also damaged our fuel lines.
After careful repair works led by our volunteers it's wonderful to have our engine back in action 🔧⚙️
We hope that we'll be able to have it running again for visitors next year 🤞
Today we are shut, but we'll be open just as soon as we safely can be 🙂
Head down to the Markfield Beam Engine & Museum this Easter Monday for our second steaming of the year 👍
European Steam Weekend - March 2018
It may be cold outside but here at the Markfield Beam Engine & Museum we are keeping warm with a bit of steam 😁
Despite the poor weather conditions, we're still planning to go ahead with steaming the engine on Sunday 18th March. Our main steaming will be at 2pm.
We will be open from 11am and possibly steaming at earlier and later times if there is sufficient demand.
The European Steam Weekend has arrived!

1st steaming down, two to go..
The boiler is working (we think) but hasn't been inspected yet so unfortunately the Beam Engine will not be operating under steam power as scheduled on 1st May :(
The Museum will still be open from 11:00am to 5:00pm and we will be running the tiny model engines at various points in the day :)
Due to boiler failure the Beam Engine will not be operating under steam power as scheduled on Easter Monday 17th April
The Museum will still be open from 11:00am to 5:00pm
Steam, Beams, Engines and Pumps..
The government is doing a review of museums in England and are asking for views from individuals. Please don't miss the chance to show that people care about museums, that they achieve great things and are facing huge threats from funding cuts.

Come and see some steam-driven models being demonstrated TODAY by one of our engineers..
