Next week, in collaboration with GBS Fine Art, we open an exhibition of work by Harry Cory Wright and Jeffrey Blondes. “Still Time; the Meditative Landscape” runs from 8th to 18th October at 55 Hollywood Road, London SW10 9HX

Cory Wright and Blondes are two contemporary artists whose meditative practices in landscape art over many years reveal an immersive and time-attuned engagement with the natural world. While they work in different media - Blondes with ultra-long duration HD digital film and Cory Wright with large-format photography - both artists create contemplative, sensory-rich experiences that lure the viewer into extended observation and reflection. Until now they have been weaving that spell independently of each other; this exhibition provides a welcome opportunity for an audience to encounter, side by side, their differing approaches to the living landscape.

Please join us for the opening reception on Wednesday 8th October between 6 and 8pm when both artists will be in attendance

The exhibition runs until 18th October, 11am to 6pm (Closed on Sunday)

It’s a busy time for Harry Cory Wright. We are currently showing his new series of photographs “Quiet Ground”. An exhibition of his works on paper curated by opens in London today. And tomorrow opens where some of his photographs taken in Nantucket will be shown by

“From Richmond Hill” is shown here which captures the iconic curve of the River Thames as seen from just below Richmond Terrace. The composition echoes JMW Turner’s “Thomson’s Aeolian Harp” (1809), with the familiar river bend and the woods to the right. Yet, beneath the shaded trees in Cory Wright’s photograph, a small modern gathering subtly anchors the scene in the present day.

“Quiet Ground” will be on show at Eleven until 26th July. Please contact the gallery for further information or to arrange a viewing

We are delighted to present “Quiet Ground”, an exhibition of new photographs by Harry Cory Wright, which opens on Thursday 1st May and runs until Saturday 26th July 2025.

This is the landscape where the Thames draws nearer to the City of London, curving around the lush expanse of Richmond Park. It marks the final pastoral moment before the imposing presence of concrete and stone takes over, stretching toward the sea. Continuing a theme he has explored for years, Harry Cory Wright presents four exquisite views of this iconic landscape- luminous morning and evening scenes that echo the timeless elegance of early 19th century master paintings of the Thames. This is the river’s last hurrah. This is “Quiet Ground”.

Yet beneath the softness of the light, modern elements subtly disturb the serene order once captured by painters like Sir Joshua Reynolds and JMW Turner. In “The Shard from Richmond Hill”, Cory Wright offers one of his signature early morning encounters. The sunrise filters through the park’s summer foliage on the left, while dew glistens along the path to the right. On the horizon, though distant, The Shard stands unmistakably at centre stage, its lights still glowing from the night. Yet, dominating the foreground is the dead trunk of one of Richmond Park’s ancient oak trees, its massive limbs scattered and lifeless. A stark reminder that in time, all things must fall.

Harry Cory Wright was born in 1963 and lives and works in Norfolk. His work features in many prominent private and public collections worldwide including Hermès, Blackstone, Imperial Health Charity and the Paul Allen Collection.

Please contact us for further information or to arrange a viewing. Eleven is open by appointment only.

Kent Christensen’s exhibition “Munchies” continues at Eleven. Kent’s work explores pop culture through vibrant depictions of ice creams, burgers and macarons, while expanding to modern references like legalised substances and wellness trends. His burger-themed paintings pay homage to Bob’s Big Boy and Five Guys, both brands tied to personal memories and now global phenomena. Included in the exhibition is a wall of small ice cream cone paintings that pay homage to the soup can paintings of Andy Warhol.

We are delighted to be showing new paintings by Kent Christensen. “Munchies” revisits themes from previous exhibitions, blending nostalgia and humour. His work explores pop culture through vibrant depictions of ice creams, burgers and macarons, while expanding to modern references like legalised substances and wellness trends. He highlights the cultural shift around substances, comparing sleek dispensaries to 60s head shops. His burger-themed paintings pay homage to Bob’s Big Boy and Five Guys, both brands tied to personal memories and now global phenomena. Christensen reflects on the transient nature of pop culture, noting that change is the only constant in both art and life.

The exhibition runs until 18th January 2025. Viewing can be made by appointment. For details of available works please contact [email protected]

“Easter Corn” is a painting by Kent Christensen that is currently hanging in the gallery.

Kent is an American artist who playfully satirises modern life, where indulgence is the new god. The colourful and alluring qualities of candy and other sugar based foods make them enticing visual subjects, masking their true unhealthy nature. Kent’s paintings pay homage to altarpieces, advertising, Pop Art, and minimalism among other themes.

“Absurdly Familiar” was a retrospective of Kent’s work that has just closed at Utah Valley University Museum of Art. An exhibition of new work will be on show at Eleven in October.
