"The exhibition is packed with a tonne of work, with each wall dedicated to an artist. As well as illustrations, there are comic strips encouraging visitors to read and engage with the artworks on display. The Garfield comics displayed against orange walls are easy to spot.....
As you walk around, you’ll also read comments from the community at Battersea for Dogs and Cats, who have contributed to this exhibition by aiding their expertise. There is a short video clip playing on a small TV where the sound projects around the room, filmed at the cattery in Battersea..."

"The towering German artist, Anselm Kiefer, has worked continuously throughout his career to interrogate the socio-political history of Germany and the political ideology of fascism. From embodying and confronting fascism when enacting the ‘Sieg Heil’ salute in one of his earliest works, Für Jean Genet (For Jean Genet), c.1969, to wearing his father’s Wehrmacht overcoat in his self-portrait, Heroic Symbols (Self Portrait), c.1970, Kiefer’s conscious inheritance of recent and traumatic historical and cultural memory is evident, alongside his commitment to looking such atrocities in the eye, and refusing to forget what so recently happened, and could indeed happen again. Alongside the attention given to the political and culturally specific, Kiefer’s works frequently focus on landscapes and nature, exploring the way in which representations of landscapes within the Romantic tradition become associated with political ideologies under the N**i regime. Kiefer’s work interrogates the cultural past and critically examines artistic traditions tainted by the N**i regime. This exhibition, which shows paintings, drawings, photographs, woodcuts, and artist books made between 1969 and 1982, is psychologically heavy and dense in meaning, and urgently asks questions which could not be more apt in today’s alarming political climate."

"I recently spotted visual artist Gerald Marie-Nelly, also known as Mister Geez at ‘The Other Art Fair’ in Shoreditch and I fell in love with his un-posed and eye-catching documentary photography. As a fan of risqué street style and artistic photography, I was automatically taken by his black and white compositions and the authenticity and personality that shines effortlessly through his work. When I looked at his photographs more closely, I began to recognise exactly where in London they were captured (like my boyfriend’s actual street in Notting Hill) and this connected me even more to them. They’ve picked me up at a time when life was dragging me down, proving how enriching and uplifting art can be.

Originally from the French island of Martinique, but very much settled in London now, Mister Geez is a visual artist inspired by his Caribbean roots and city life. His photography, seen in projects like his “Inner Child Playground” from his London Street Chronicles series, captures human interactions in documentary or street photography contexts.

I had the pleasure of talking to Mister Geez about his love of multicultural London and photography, his life-changing voluntary work at Crisis Charity, his approach to visual storytelling and much more.."

"Curated by Helen Starr, “What is it Like” at arebyte Gallery showcases the effectiveness of digital media in exploring metaphysical concepts, particularly through its ability to simulate realities that accentuate crucial factors within human qualia such as environmental context, physical embodiment, and instinctive neurological processes. Viewers are invited to examine how these simulated factors, more visible in their virtual fabrication, shed light on what it means to experience consciousness. The show is inspired by Thomas Nagel’s 1974 essay, ‘What Is It Like To Be a Bat?” that examines the subjectivity of consciousness. Through its dependence on one’s integration of their subjective human experience, the show examines what it means to be human in the face of technological advancement, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, where the complexity of the human experience is often overshadowed by powerful yet specific abilities of AI." "As well as awarding prominence to the esoteric discipline of concrete poetry, this exhibition reveals a perspective on futurist literature that might usually be overshadowed by its radical ideologies as well as futurism’s more famous contributions to the visual arts. This perspective is undoubtedly a result of expert research and analysis and a testament to the depth of the Estorick collection and its unique dedication to Italian art and its impact. With an extensive amount of work not mentioned in this review and expertly written wall texts that offer great historical insight, the show has potential for many takeaways and subjective points of interest. The curation effectively invites visitors to traverse the two galleries freely and come to their own conclusions, avoiding overbearing narratives, and making for a pleasant, contemplative viewing experience." FEATURE PUBLISHED TODAY ON ABUNDANT ART visit page

"A twenty first century example of the continuation of protest against the affairs of the state using clay comes from the artist Connor Czora, a political activist, protesting through porcelain. His shattered ‘Make America Great Again’ baseball cap has been shown countlessly in galleries across the United States and has been described as a ‘standout’ and ‘jaw dropping piece’. His work advocates for trans rights through decorated dinner plates – created in a response to Florida’s ban on healthcare for trans minors in November 2022- and to Palestinians through his work for Potters for Palestine."

"When it comes to Rachel Zhang’s work, the more you look, the more you see. It’s art which requires meticulous observation from its viewer, if in return they want to be rewarded by the joy of discovering the hidden figures discretely placed amongst the scene – such as the politician in the stomach of a patient in ‘seeing permission to enter’ or the bust of a head of a woman in the bottom right corner of ‘hot place heart space’." "The Bindi – A decorative forehead dot worn by Indian women, laden with meaning of social and religious principles and the point at which human consciousness affixes to the spiritual realm – and additionally a symbol synonymous to the creative career of artist, Bharti Kher. But what made her choose this as an emblem of her work, and how has it evolved in form and meaning over time?" Written by . Includes Kher's words.
