Artist Spotlight: Jyoti Bharwani

Bharwani is a London-based South Asian abstract artist working across painting and sculpture. Exploring cosmology, geological form, and material intelligence, she creates works that hover between object and vessel. Using canvas, birch, wire, thread, watercolour, and oil, her practice draws on Eastern philosophy and elemental balance, allowing materials to shape their own evolution through time.

In 2025, the Frasers were invited to Pando - the world’s largest tree - as the first international artists in residence.
Pando (meaning’l spread’) is a single clonal aspen in Fishlake National Forest, Utah. With 47,000 stems, it has been growing for 10,000 years, since the end of the last ice age. In the early 2010s, concerns about regeneration kindled the creation of Friends of Pando, who struck up a partnership with the US Forest Service and Fishlake National Park; their programme of research and protection involves volunteers, farmers, rangers, ecologists and artists. This nexus for collaborative work and joy nurtures care, and conversations about resilience in a multi-species web of life, all under the one sky.
Harriet Fraser and Rob Fraser work collaboratively through their practice ‘somewhere nowhere. Their projects focus on sensitive environments and rural cultures and are led by a curiosity about place and processes of care and change.
Their work draws on slowness, walking, observation and silence, as well as hands-on work and interviews with experts from farming, land management, earth sciences, computational modelling, policy and related fields. The Frasers curate events that weave together walking and dialogue, and they make bespoke poetry, photography and installation pieces for these events.

Drawn in oak gall ink with a white stork flight feather at the foot of an old oak tree, I have returned throughout the year witness the life cycle of the newly reintroduced White Stork colony at the rewilding projext at Knepp Wilding estate in Sussex.
The drawings made in situ have translated into a set of lithographs, a new challenge drawing on heavy limestone and printing through a traditional press.
Catherine Greenwood (nee Atkinson (b. 1968, Beckenham, England) is a British landscape artist based in Sussex, UK and specialises in etching, lithography and monotype
printmaking.
Studying in London as a Printmaking Fellow at City & Guilds Art School, London UK (2019) and graduating with an M. A. from University of Maine U.S.A. (1998) in which she contributed to innovative research into contemporary ‘green’ etching. She was a fine art degree student at Camberwell school of Art London and KIAD Kent UK(1986). She currently teaches etching in Sussex and Suffolk and London. Recent exhibitions include Trinity Buoy wharf drawing prize 2024-5, International Original Print exhibition RE London, 2025.

Artist Spotlight: Louise Ann Wilson .wilson

These photographs form part of a body of work made in response to a pre-invasive breast cancer that led to multiple surgeries, including a mastectomy with reconstruction.
Louise sought out rocky landscapes where she emplaced and photographed her body. One site, Farleton Knott-an area of Carboniferous limestone, made from calcium— became charged with significance because it was a mammogram showing’calcifications’ in the breast that raised concerns, leading to the cancer diagnosis, and to her telling a friend, “I am becoming rock.” She visited the site under a super moon, amid stormy, lead-grey skies, and when cumulus clouds scudded across winter-blue skies; the rock and sky reflecting her mood and unfolding experience.
Louise Ann Wilson is a scenographer, performance-maker, and author whose work encompasses site-specific walking performances, installations, films, and photographic images that emplace challenging life events in rural landscapes. Her practice has addressed menopause and hysterectomy, terminal illness and bereavement, in/fertility and childlessness by circumstance, (im)mobility due to ageing and illness, and the impact of personal and topographical change. She has worked in sites ranging from mountain summits and subterranean caves to crumbling coastlines, quarries, and mines. Her projects are transdisciplinary and collaborative. She is the author of Sites of Transformation
(2022), shortlisted for the Prague Quadrennial Best Book Award 2023.

The three works on paper respond to Under the Same Sky through materials shaped by shared environmental forces.
Sunlight, time, and evaporation act equally on land and sea: dried mud records heat, absence, and fracture, while seawater settles over pigment to leave traces of salt and movement. Created under the same sun, the works hold different geographies within a single atmospheric condition, connecting bodies of land, water, and the sky that governs them both.
Polly is an environmental artist, alchemist and pigment maker working with natural materials. Her practice explores identity, memory, and belonging through tactile two and three dimensional work.
Through POLBEN’s Pigment, Polly research’s, forage’s, and produces organic, inorganic, waste and synthesised pigments, foregrounding material knowledge, place, and slow making.
Working with colour as both substance and story, she creates sensory experiences that invite embodied engagement.
Sustainability is central to her practice, shaping not only material choices but the ethics of how work is made, shared, and experienced.
