The shallow dish is extremely thinly carved, its interior decorated with a central medallion of three layers of radiating chrysanthemum petals, corresponding to layers of overlapping peony petals on the base forming the foot. The exterior with a band of stylised lotus blooms, further petals folding around the rim into the inner mouth rim. The very translucent, softly polished stone of a pale greenish-white tone suffused throughout with fine crystalline inclusions.⁠

No. 14 - A ‘Longquan’ celadon deep dish with incised floral decoration (Ming dynasty, 1368-1644)
Dimensions: 30.5cm diameter

Provenance:
An old English collection

Thickly potted with a straight rim, the sides incised with scrolling lotus blooms, the centre stamped with a twin chrysanthemum spray. Covered overall in a deep and rich sea-green glaze, including the foot rim. The recessed base revealing a dark orange firing ring.

Dimensions: 27.5 cm wide. Japanese wood box

Provenance:
– Christie’s Hong Kong ‘The Imperial Sale’, 28 May 2014, lot 3511
– A private Dutch collection

Shaped in the form of a five-petalled prunus-blossom, the central scene on the cover carved to depict scholars in various leisurely pursuits enjoying the views and the lake with their two attendants; all set amongst gnarled pine trees and rocks. The sides of the cover and base are decorated with five cartouches carved with various floral-sprays set against a diamond diaper ground. The interior and base are applied with black lacquer.

No. 29 - An unusual pink and yellow tourmaline pendant (Qing dynasty, 1644-1911)
Dimensions: 7cm wide, 4cm high

The pendant carved with fruits surrounded by flowers and foliage, with a bat delicately placed amongst the branches, executed in pink. This unusual tourmaline stone changes from a light pink to a vivid yellow colour, a quality expertly used by the carvers of this pendant.
