Two exceptional works by Joan Mitchell—'City Landscape' and 'Untitled' (both 1955)—lead Christie’s 'The Rockefeller Mitchells: Science for the Benefit of Humanity' this autumn. Acquired for Rockefeller University in the 1950s, these dynamic masterpieces embody Mitchell’s pivotal year, marked by expressive colour and energetic brushwork that defined her role in Abstract Expressionism.

Proceeds from their sale, estimated at $15-20M and $9-12M respectively, will advance biomedical research at this globally celebrated institution. Can art and science work hand in hand to shape the future?

Executed between 3rd - 8th June, 1969, 'Femme et jeune garçon nus' captures the elegance of Picasso’s late style.

Through dynamic lines and textured brushstrokes, this intimate scene of two reclining figures reflects both Picasso’s mastery of composition and his meditations on the human form.

Recently sold for 2,712,000 USD, far surpassing its estimate, the work highlights the enduring relevance of Picasso’s late phase in the broader art market.

On view at Gagosian Grosvenor Hill, Takashi Murakami’s latest exhibition, 'Japanese Art History à la Takashi Murakami' reimagines the legacy of Japanese art through a contemporary lens.

Focusing on Iwasa Matabei (1578–1650) and his 'Rakuchū-Rakugai-zu Byōbu' (scenes in and around Kyoto), Murakami fuses traditional painting techniques with A.I. technology to reinterpret historical works.

The exhibition explores themes of time, mortality, and identity, questioning how technology reshapes our understanding of history.

On view until 8 March 2025.

Banksy’s ‘Flower Thrower Triptych’ (2019) is a striking exploration of the tension between aggression and peace, a narrative he revisits throughout his oeuvre. In this screenprint, the figure—mid-throw—substitutes the expected weapon with a bouquet, symbolising defiance softened by an unexpected gesture of hope.

Executed in his hallmark stencil technique, the triptych invites a dialogue on the subversive power of art in socio-political contexts. As one of Banksy's most recognised works, it holds significant relevance for both seasoned collectors and those with a keen eye for cultural investment.

The framed presentation further enhances its presence, making it not only an artwork but also a strategic acquisition in today’s dynamic art market.
