We will be celebrating the opening of the 2026 Antepavilion on August 1st. Link to the tickets in the bio.

Holy Crap is a medieval chapel frozen in the scaffold stage. The structure uses traditional lashing techniques to bind the elements together.

Holy Crap is designed as a floating non-denominational chapel for meditation, reflection, and self expression, built entirely from salvaged materials and natural fibre rope. The chapel is designed as a space for marginalised and q***r people to feel a sense of comfort outside of less welcoming religious establishments.

This year’s Antepavilion: Holy Crap, A Chapel of Scrap, in construction at by Bobby Esposito of .studio

Holy Crap uses medieval building techniques (rope lashing) to construct a chapel frozen in its construction phase.

It is made entirely from recycled and reclaimed materials, and natural rope.

Out next shortlisted entry for the 2026 Antepavilion is FEATHERED FOLLY by Jonny Buckland of Studio Saar

The Feathered Folly is a reclaimed habitat structure for the rear of Hackney warehouse overlooking the canal backwater, designed to support the Black Redstart, a bird in decline whose urban breeding habitat has been steadily lost through redevelopment. Rather than creating a pavilion centred for human occupation, the project proposes a vertical guildhall for bird life that taps into the city’s existing ecological infrastructure.

In giving form to the needs of the Black Redstart, The Feathered Folly reframes the canal edge as a place of interdependent occupation, productivity and care.
