By popular demand, our 100 Years of Dresses exhibition is staying a little longer!✨️

The exhibition has now been extended until 1 November, giving you more time to explore 100 years of changing fashion through dresses from our collection.

This extension has been made possible thanks to the continued support of Prom Ally and The Home Front Museum, who have kindly loaned pieces from their collections for the exhibition.

From 7 September, we’ll be making some changes and additions to the exhibition, so hurry in before then to see our current display. If you’ve already visited, make the most of your Annual Pass, only £5, and come back to see both sides of the exhibition!💕

Under 18s go FREE and our building is fully wheelchair accessible.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10am–4pm
Last entry: 3:15pm

Join us for a fascinating gallery talk with Bill Rogerson MBE, former British Transport Police officer and Honorary Secretary of the British Transport Police History Group.

Drawing on more than 40 years of service, Bill will take you on a journey through the history of the British Transport Police, from its origins to the present day. Discover how Britain’s railways have been protected over the decades, hear remarkable real-life stories from across the railway network, and learn how policing has evolved alongside the changing railway.

Bill served throughout the UK, including as Sergeant-in-Charge at Holyhead, and was awarded an MBE for services to the British Transport Police.

This special talk is being held in celebration of our temporary Transport of North Wales exhibition and offers a unique insight into one of Britain’s oldest specialist police forces.

🕐 1:00pm–2:00pm
🎟 £5 per person

🌒 Solar Eclipse GIVE AWAY

On Wednesday 29 June 1927, a rare total eclipse of the Sun crossed North Wales for the first time in 203 years.

Newspaper reports described blocked roads, full hotels and boarding houses, and eager observers huddled in coastal shelters as the summer weather failed to play its part and clouds and rain prevailed. Within the 32-mile-wide path of totality, they had hoped for 23 seconds of darkness and the beautiful sight of the Sun’s corona glowing around the Moon.

Museum Trustee and amateur astronomer, Jonathen Harty, last observed a relatively clear solar eclipse on Tuesday 25th October 2022. Jonathen's composite photo shows the Moon passing in front of the Sun, with the inevitable clouds still visible. It was taken from Trinity Square, Llandudno, where passers-by were able to view the eclipse safely through my telescope fitted with a solar filter.

This month, on Wednesday 12th August, observers in Llandudno will again be keeping their fingers crossed for clear skies as the Moon obscures 91% of the Sun. First contact will be at 6.13pm, maximum eclipse at 7.10pm, and the event will end at 8.04pm.

If you plan to watch, never look directly at the Sun without proper protective filters.

✨️To help, the museum has 10 pairs of special eclipse glasses available free to the first ten visitors to Llandudno Museum Tuesday 11th August one pair per group.✨️

As history shows, the unpredictable North Wales weather makes these wonderful natural spectacles feel rarer still.

Keep Looking Up!
