What a day!

Our Young Curators recently visited , where they explored incredible exhibitions and met artist Brian Fell, who shared the story behind his amazing sculptures.

The trip gave the group plenty of fresh ideas for their own exhibition, "Stories of the Sea", arriving in 2027.

A huge thank you to The Atkinson for such a fantastic visit!

📺 Not all the treasures we uncover during are the stories themselves...

As our amazing volunteers continue digitising the collection at Prescot Museum, we've been spotting some fantastic pieces of local history. Sometimes, what's on the back of the newspaper is just as interesting as the article that's been saved!

Take these brilliant TV listings from what we think is the 1970s. 👀

• Watch with Mother
• The Debbie Reynolds Show
• Stingray
• And, of course... it's live, it's Top of the Pops!

A real blast from the past. 📻📺

What would have been your must-watch show?

What does a journey mean to you?

We recently welcomed photographer Andy Johnson to Kirkby Gallery to talk about his work with Open Eye and the photographs he is currently exhibiting as part of the New Faces, New Focus exhibition.

Andy shared some wonderful stories behind the photographs and reflected on how the theme of Journeys has made him think about his own life and the paths he has taken along the way.

A huge thank you to Andy for spending time with us and sharing his stories.

You can see Andy’s work, alongside photographs from other Knowsley photographers, at Kirkby Gallery until 18 December.

Come along, explore the exhibition and discover the journeys behind the picture.

🌊 Young Curators are BACK! 🌊

After a well-deserved summer break, our Young Curators have returned and are diving straight into planning their exhibition, Stories of the Sea, opening in April 2027.

This week, they transformed our gallery wall into a giant project calendar, mapping out everything that needs to happen between now and launch day. From selecting artworks to shaping ideas, the group is gaining hands-on experience and a real understanding of what goes into creating a museum exhibition including-

‣ Creative thinking
‣ Teamwork
‣ Exhibition planning
‣ Behind the scenes gallery skills

📧 The project runs right through to April 2027, and we're always keen to hear from young people interested in arts, culture and creativity. Know a young person aged 12-17 who would love to get involved? Register your interest by emailing [email protected].

🎨 Our gallery archives are taking over the corridor!

As we get ready to open our exhibition, our corridor gallery has been transformed with a selection of incredible works from our archives. Featuring Michelle Holland, Laura Connell, .26, Mike Kirby, W***y Russell and many more.

And there’s an even bigger reason to come and see them. All of the artwork featured can be loaned to schools through our Love Art Loan Art Scheme.

Both exhibitions open Monday 14 September.
