What would be viable community-centred avenues for the management and valorisation of El Kef’s cultural heritage? From the Roman baths to the Ghriba Synagogue, from the Ali Turki Mausoleum to the kasba, from traditional gastronomic traditions, handicrafts and the popular SiccaJazz festival to mountains and forests, how can we preserve and promote El Kef’s cultural and natural richness while driving local sustainable development?

An impressive panel of speakers addressed these questions last week at "El Kef, Tales of Marginalised Heritage in North-West Tunisia. Community-centred Visions for El Kef's Cultural Heritage Management and Valorisation", an expert meeting organised by Dr Majdi Faleh, Dr Asma Gharbi and Dr Nourchen Ben Fatma (ENGAGE_Network-Tunisia) with Dr Giamila Quattrone (ArCHIAM) as part of a new academic collaboration between ENAU 2017-2023, University of Liverpool and Nottingham Trent University.

The completion of the Misfat Al Abriyeen sustainable heritage tourism project was officially announced yesterday in Muscat, Oman, in a virtual ceremony organised by the Ministry of Heritage
