Saturday we have our Steampunk Family Fun Day. "So what is Steampunk" we hear you ask, well here is our go at explaining - Steampunk is a community of followers who value good manners and polite behaviour. They take inspiration from Victorian and Edwardian influences creating a mash up of retro and futuristic influences that are presented in creative and artistic outlets. Sartorial elegance is foremost and often produces elegant and elaborate vintage fashion with a twist, top hats, goggles, and brass feature heavily. Many Steampunks make their own fashion and accessories, modernising and adapting everyday items into new things. Like the rest of us they enjoy being entertained and amused and have used their imagination and creativity to developed their own sources of amusement. Come along you can try your hand at Tea Duelling a competitive form of biscuit dunking, or perhaps Parasol Fencing is more your thing, if it's speed and adventure you're after then Tea Pot Racing could be your niche. To celebrate all that creativity we will have a special fashion show in the afternoon. So join us on Saturday from 10am for a Steampunk Family Fun Day of science and magic with music food, and craft stalls. Oh and hot and cold food and refreshments. If you want to dress up, great, BUT you don't have to.
