🎄 From all of us at the Hovercraft Museum, a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🎄

A massive THANK YOU to our customers, our wonderful volunteers, and all our friends and supporters.
Without your custom, your hard work and your support, the World’s ONLY museum of hovercraft simply could not exist.

Don’t forget, we reopen on Saturday 10th February!

Keep an eye out for news and updates!

Today is the first of our two Falcon Open Days!
Falcon is our AP1-88, which until today has not been open to visitors!
Some great AP1-88 footage will be playing onboard, and some AP1-88 archive will be on display too! Volunteers will be onboard to chat and answer questions!
There’s plenty undercover at the world’s only museum of hovercraft, so don’t let the weather put you off!
Be sure to check out our cafe and gift shop!
Hover Halloween is still with us for our younger visitors!
Can’t manage a Saturday visit? We will also be opening on Sunday 19th November, to support the Gosport Half Marathon!
Opening hours: 10.00 - 4.00.
Family and dog friendly. Wheelchair access to hangars and shop/cafe.

We’re very saddened indeed to learn of the passing of former Hovertravel pilot of long standing, Captain Barrie Jehan.
Barrie died peacefully with his family beside him last Saturday, 21st October.
Barrie started with cross Solent operator Hovertravel after he left school in 1968.
He clocked up over 21,000 hours of operating hovercraft, which equated to around 84,000 crossings of the Solent.
As well as piloting hovercraft on the Solent, Barrie also operated them overseas in 32 countries.
Other responsibilities in his role at Hovertravel included security and health and safety and evaluation of craft.
He semi retired in 2012, continuing to pilot as Route Captain on the Solent on an occasional basis for a few more years.
In his time, Barrie flew every type of craft on the Southsea to Ryde route (SRN6s, AP1-88s, BHT-130 and the current Griffon 12000TDs) as well as other types too.
Barrie will be remembered and missed by many.
We wish to extend our condolences to his family.
