A little explanation of the dramatic name change ☺️

For a few months, I and other Eskdalemuir artists Catkin van Hoppe, Fergus Hall, Julie MacLeod and Sally Barrett have been working on creating a trail for the valley that combines having our studios open to visitors on an ongoing basis with a description of the abundance of mysterious prehistoric sites here ~ and Samye Ling, of course.

So this is now the facebook home of the trail.

Its website home is https://illuminationsbyshen.art/trail/

It also has a playlist on my youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/

Look forward to seeing you here and there...and maybe even in person in the misty valley 🥰

* big news! *
Sorry to disappoint all the lovely folk for whom Rennaldburn’s been a beloved creative retreat for the past seventeen years, but I now no longer offer self catering accommodation here.

This is so I can focus on working on my own artwork…and also so I can have an in-house gallery, open to visitors from December 14th 2024.
Come visit! (Do ring first though, on 07726926869 :)

If you’re new to the wonders of Rennaldburn, it’s a secluded seventeenth-century farmhouse surrounded by pastureland, a couple of miles south of Samye Ling Tibetan Buddhist Centre in Eskdalemuir, Dumfries & Galloway.

Rennaldburn is the first house built by Thomas Telford under the apprenticeship of a master stonemason in his early teens…and its deep heart is in the beautiful waterfall which runs through a wooded ravine here, from which the house takes its name.
