Stanley Picker Gallery

Stanley Picker Gallery Contemporary art and design gallery in SW London, staging free exhibitions, workshops, and events. The call for applications opens annually in May.

Stanley Picker Gallery at Kingston University is one of the leading university galleries and commissioning venues in the UK, working with artists, designers, students, academics and members of the local community to encourage creativity, learning, research and innovation. Established in 1997 with the ongoing support of the Stanley Picker Trust, the Gallery forms part of Arts Council England’s Nati

onal Portfolio and is a principal cultural interface between Kingston University and its civic communities in South-West London and beyond. From its island location on the Hogsmill River, our venue is a creative hub, a production site and a presentation space that functions as an “expanded studio” dedicated to commissioning and curating contemporary art and design practice, generating a dynamic programme of exhibitions, events and participation activities staged onsite, offsite and online. Appointed each year through public open call, our Stanley Picker Fellowships in Design and Fine Art support a diversity of contemporary practitioners to research, create and premiere ambitious new work, by providing generous grants, free studio space, professional expertise and valuable access to the world-class workshop facilities at Kingston School of Art. Our Participation Programme involves us working collaboratively with schools, colleges, community groups and local residents of all ages, to deliver a range of creative activities and shared learning and professional development opportunities for students, that engage everyone in the life of the Gallery, our partner venue Dorich House Museum and the wider University. Follow us Twitter , Instagram and sign up to our mailing list via our website for the latest updates on the programme, and to receive invitations and newsletter on our activities and how to get involved.

We would love you to join us next Tuesday in the Project Studio for a Hogsmill River Community Gathering at the Stanley Picker Gallery in Kingston.

📆Tue 10 March 4-6pm. All Welcome

🫧Stanley Picker Fellows FRAUD (Audrey Samson & Francisco Gallardo) are inviting members of the local community to join a series of Hogsmill Community Gatherings connected to their upcoming exhibition A Simultaneous Agreement (23 April - 18 July 2026) and the community application to the Environment Agency to make part of the Hogsmill River safe for swimming.

🪨Frauds project highlights dangerous levels of pollutants in the Hogsmill river through a critical investigation of phosphate mining in Western Sahara.

💧We are inviting local communities to participate in this consultation process and to help shape a public programme that promotes the health, care and biodiversity of the river.

🐚The next Hogsmill Community Gathering is Tuesday 10 March 4-6pm at Stanley Picker Gallery, with special guest speaker Prof Becky Malby from the Ilkley Clean River Group speaking about their successful clean river campaign.

✨The gathering will include a presentation and informal discussion, facilitated by FRAUD where we invite you to share your concern for the health of our rivers and make a plan for local action.

☕️Light refreshments provided (think tea and cakes)

If you would are interested in joining a future community gathering please RSVP to [email protected]
