Only one week left to explore The Wonders of Moominvalley!

This free exhibition at the Ferens Art Gallery celebrates the life and work of Finnish writer, illustrator and artist Tove Jansson, showcasing her enchanting artwork and Moomin stories through immersive displays.

A reflective and calming experience, open until 6 September, and ending with an opportunity to pick up a memento in our special Moomin pop up shop.

Looking for a relaxed creative Sunday?

Join Slow Sundays Drawing Group at Ferens Art Gallery. This welcoming session is open to all skill levels and encourages drawing from life and close observation of artworks. Artist Esther Cawley provides expert guidance, with materials supplied. Bring your own sketchbook if you wish.

Ages 18+.

Sessions run the first Sunday of every month starting from 6 September.

Still Life by Pieter Elinga Janssens

Janssens was a diverse Dutch Golden Age painter, largely renowned for painting domestic scenes, with a strong focus on the geometry of windows, floor tiles and paintings.

His still life paintings are lesser known but have a great contrast to the main body of his work. The objects in his paintings are placed on a table covered by drapery, against a dark background, allowing for a great attention to detail.
