The Derwent Pencil Museum is moving!

We are delighted to announce that we are relocating to a new home at Rawnsley Hall. Remaining in the heart of Keswick, Derwent's birthplace, our new location will provide a larger, brighter space for visitors to explore the history of pencils.

Whist we are busy preparing for the move the museum remains open and we'd love to welcome you for one last visit to our current site, before we close our doors on 1 November 2026 at 5pm.

Current museum closure: 1 November 2026, 5pm
New museum opening: 1 March 2027
New location: Rawnsley Hall, Keswick, Cumbia, UK

🎉 Great news! Normal access to the Derwent Pencil Museum has now resumed, so it's the perfect time to pencil us into your plans! ✏️

🚗 On-site parking is due to return to normal from Thursday 13th August.

🐾 Bringing a four-legged friend? Well-behaved dogs are very welcome, so the whole family can enjoy a day out together.

We can't wait to welcome you back for a colourful and creative day out in the heart of Keswick!

PLEASE NOTE: We have now been informed by security that dogs will not be allowed on site during the convention and bags are limited to A4 size. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Looking for a fun and varied seasonal role?
We're looking for a Seasonal Museum Associate to join our friendly team until the beginning of November. If you enjoy meeting people, working as part of a team, and creating great visitor experiences, we'd love to hear from you!
🌟 What you'll be doing: • Welcoming visitors and helping them make the most of their visit
• Sharing information about our fascinating exhibits and history
• Promoting retail sales and visitor experiences
• Assisting with the day-to-day running of our gift shop and café
• Acting as a passionate ambassador for The Derwent Pencil Museum

• A varied role where no two days are the same
• A supportive and friendly team environment
• The opportunity to be part of a popular visitor attraction

Join us at the Pencil Museum on Thursday 11th June to mark the 40th Anniversary of the Derwent Drawing Range. Our technical team will be onsite from 10:30am to 1:30pm, ready to answer your questions and share their expertise - don't miss this chance to learn more about these much loved pencils.
