It’s a busy Tuesday in the yard while the steam crane undergoes an inspection.

It was 60 years ago in July 1966 that 45596 Bahamas was withdrawn from service by BR at Stockport Edgeley MPD. Because of the interest of local enthusiasts who wanted to buy it, the Edgeley shed foreman, Terry Smith, had the engine moved to the far end of No 9 road. The intention was to reduce the opportunity of it being hauled away for scrap. The photo shows the engine in this location late July.

Coal Tank 1054 in the yard - boiler inspection day 🤞

Friday 17th April witnessed a major step forward in the overhaul of ‘Bahamas’.
This was the removal of the boiler from the frames, so allowing a full boiler inspection to assess what repairs are required.
The lift was straightforward and there were no obvious signs of concern.
The opportunity was taken the following day to clean the inside of the frames. The next task will be removal of all motion parts for inspection.
