Invergordon Off the Wall are seeking funding to be able to continue with future projects.
We are currently developing paper fold out maps and signage boards to assist visitors in navigating their way around Invergordon's attractions and walking routes.
We also aim to produce further murals and organise future events.
Would you take two minutes to nominate us for funding available? Only open until 11th October and could make a huge difference.

Patterns in the landscape, as seen from the air. These meandering zigzags near Invergordon are the surviving remains of WWI trenches built for troops to practice in before they were sent to the front. Amongst the whins and bracken there are three groups of earthworks here, including a mortar emplacement and communication trenches. If you want a closer look in the company of an expert there is a guided tour on Thursday 2nd October as part of HAF. You could combine this with a second walk round 'Wartime Invergordon' in the afternoon and discover a a whole new side to this Easter Ross town.
The HER details for the Rhicullen trenches can be found at http://her.highland.gov.uk/SingleResult.aspx?uid=MHG50626 and full booking details for the HAF events are available from http://www.highland.gov.uk/downloads/file/11702/highland_archaeology_festival_2014_programme .

We are celebrating our 50th Anniversary this year alongside the RNLI's 200th Anniversary. To celebrate this we have a RNLI Open Weekend in September which the teams are working to bring to life!

Friday 6th September 6pm - Service of Thanksgiving at Invergordon Church of Scotland, located on Castle Road, Invergordon. This service will be an opportunity for us to come together as a community to give thanks for the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve in the RNLI, particularly those connected to our local lifeboat station.

During the service, we will reflect on the rich history of the RNLI and honour the brave men and women who have risked their lives to save others at sea. It will also be a time to remember those who have been lost and to pray for the safety of all who continue this vital work.

Saturday 7th September - Day 1 RNLI Open Day at Invergordon Lifeboat Station where we will have an array of local crafters in our Craft Village, Lifeboat Demonstration, Lifeboat Tours, Emergency Services, RNLI Souvenirs, Anne Noble School of Dance, Tombola, Bottle Raffle RNLI BBQ, Teas & Coffees, Model Lifeboats, Lego Rescue other kids activities (see coming posts for this) and some live music throughout and of course Stormy Stan will be up to his usual mischief on both days!

Old Inverness
Extract from The Dundee Courier. September 1950
PORT OF INVERNESS BEING BY-PASSED It was reported at a meeting of Inverness Harbour Trust yesterday that if the port was to maintain its place the main cargo terminus for the Highlands the channels in the River Ness must be dredged. They were inadequate for present-day use. A large cement cargo had been diverted to Invergordon owing to the low water in the channel. In two months there would be increase in sea-borne coal.
