The Peter Rabbit trail is in full swing. I was so hoppy to be asked to replicate the most gorgeous and brand-new Emma Bridgewater x Peter Rabbit™ spongeware pattern onto a sculpture.

Celebrating a love of the British countryside this beautiful new pattern was inspired by original stencils created by Beatrix Potter’s original art and illustrations which were then re-imagined as sponge-ware designs. My challenge was to try and recreate this effect onto one of the lovely Peter Rabbit sculptures.

Working with senior Designer Sophie Gilmour and the Emma Bridgewater team I hopped at the challenge to bring the charm of their original spongeware design to life. It was a unique challenge which took a lot longer than I had hoped for. Here is a sneak peak behind the scenes when he was burrowed away in my living room to keep him secret for the trail. Sadly using cut sponge templates didn't work but more about how I achieved this in a reel very soon. I was lucky enough to be given one of the Peter Rabbit mugs which came in very handy and not just for providing me the caffeine to keep calm and carrot on ... 🥕🐇

You can find 'Peter Rabbit in the Garden' outside the Great North Museum.

Hello! How's your summer going? Anyone done anything exciting? I thought I'd show my face seeing as I am still recovering from a knee op and haven't been in the studio much.

My spring was super busy with all my giant fibreglass companions. I hope everyone is currently enjoying their summer and maybe even seen one of the 15 I have painted this year on a trail somewhere. This sunny guy is called 'Sunflower' and he is part of the Trunks Across The Thames event this summer.

I chose sunflowers because they are cheerful and bright but also they are often used as a symbol for hidden disabilities. This is close to my heart as a neurodiverse person with a ND son but also society feels a little divisive online at the moment and I wanted to celebrate our differences with something beautiful.

Tomorrow is the day! The Peter Rabbit: Tales on the Tyne starts officially tomorrow. You might have seen a few of them dotted around Newcastle and North Tyneside. I was really honoured to be asked to work on an extra special bench celebrating 160 years since Beatrix Potter was born. You can find it at Seven Stories . I'll show Seven Storiessoon but here is a sneak peak of work in progress.
