A couple of less familiar pictures for our 1960s feature this week!

The first (darker shot) is August 1965 with the foundations of the David Bryce Day Centre in New Street (it says 'taken from the subway'). The centre was demolished a few years ago.

The second photo is New Street Farm in 1961, shortly before a major redevelopment in the area.

Any memories of either place?

Today's the day! It's our first Museum Late this evening.

We will be welcoming Ukrainian Voices & Nebo i Zemlia choirs who will be performing in the garden from 6pm.

Drinks refreshments will be available in the garden 6-8pm.

The Ukrainian Voices and Nebo i Zemlia Choirs share the beauty and traditions of Ukrainian music while bringing communities together through a shared love of song. Their performances are a celebration of cultural heritage, friendship, and the enduring spirit of Ukraine.

Please note that the museum lates entertainment takes place in the garden regardless of weather conditions.

The event is not bookable and so if the event reaches capacity you may need to wait to enter the museum.

The museum cannot guarantee that chairs will be available but guests are welcome to bring their own camping style chairs.

Our stroll around 1960s continues with a photo of New Street (could this be near the junction with Bedford Road?).

We love the 1963 reg plate Mini and the old street lamp (slightly on the lean).

Next is a chilly day at the St Leonards Arms (who remembers popping in there?).

A new estate was being built in 1963 with the show house open for viewing. Anyone able to pinpoint where those new homes were?

There's a lot going on at Horsham Museum & Art Gallery!

Friday sees our first Museum Late of the year when Ukrainian Voices & Nebo i Zemlia choirs will be performing from 6pm.

Yesterday we launched the Museum of Time: An Astrophotography Trail featuring the incredible photos of Claire Bradshaw.

You can still enjoy The Young Curators' Club: The Great Fire of London, which is the work of Year 2 students from St Mary's CE Primary School, Horsham.

Bookings for our summer school holidays crafts are available - there's a different theme over the six weeks (check out our website for full details)!

Plus, of course, our regular Trails are ongoing for younger visitors.

If you just fancy a quiet sit down in a beautiful setting then our garden is the perfect spot for you!

We are open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-4pm (free admission). Pop in to see us, you're guaranteed a warm welcome. πŸ˜ƒ

Our exciting new Astrophotography Trail is now open! 🌌🌠

We've linked up with Horsham photographer Claire Bradshaw (pictured left with Museum Curator Nikki Caxton) for this Trail that will enthral visitors of all ages!

Claire's incredible photos of celestial objects are accompanied by objects from Horsham Museum's own collection which date from the light year distance of each star - the time where the light captured would have left its place of origin.

It's part of your free admission and we are open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-4pm.
